Michael Moore’s Anti-Trump Movie Bombs At The Box Office

Did you go see Michael Moore’s new anti-Trump movie over the weekend? No? Don’t feel bad, nobody else did either. Moore had promised that Fahrenheit 11/9 was going to blow up the Trump presidency, but instead it just bombed with a pathetic opening weekend. Apparently even hysterical liberals are bored with the constant anti-Trump temper tantrum and stayed home. What more do these people want? Moore used this film to compare Trump to Hitler and everything.

Prior to the 2016 election, Micheal Moore made an anti-Trump film that he said would bring the Republican candidate down. Instead Trump won an election no one thought he could. Moore went back to the drawing board and launched an anti-Trump Broadway play that he said would bring Trump down. The play was a flop and Trump somehow managed to hang on to his presidency. Moore figured he hadn’t given the anti-Trump movie thing enough of a chance, so he made this latest film, claiming it was going to literally remove the President from office.

Variety reports on what happened instead:

Michael Moore’s trump card failed him this weekend.

“Fahrenheit 11/9,” Moore’s satirical takedown of President Trump and the current political landscape in America, picked up an abysmal $3.1 million when it opened 1,719 venues.

To quote Moore: “How the f— did this happen?”

Variety was nice enough to answer that question and it boils down to people being sick and tired of the constant bombardment of anti-Trump propaganda:

That sense of Trump fatigue is cause for concern at the box office. Broadcast networks might be reveling in the ratings spike that comes from the chaos that swirls around the current administration and book publishers are also getting a boost from all the Trump takedowns, but multiplexes aren’t enjoying the same benefits.

Plus Moore was basically trying to charge people for air, something that is everywhere and free:

It’s hard to have an impact when audiences are already tired of the subject. Why are they going to shell out for a political screed on a big screen when they can just channel surf between CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News with much the same payoff?

Also, let’s not forget that Michael Moore movies are horrible and unwatchable, so that could be a factor.

While this latest bomb is bad news for Moore, it’s a time to celebrate for the rest of us. Last week in an interview with the CBC, Moore indicated that if things didn’t go well with his latest anti-Trump film, that he would flee to Canada. He said that he couldn’t live in a country with Trump as President and had pinned all of his hopes of remaining in the US on his newest movie’s ability to get rid of Trump. Clearly he failed, so he has to leave, right? If I had a dollar for every Hollywood liberal who promised to leave America because of Trump and didn’t, I’d have a small fortune.

So what’s next for Micheal Moore? He tried 2 films and a Broadway play to take down Trump and failed. Obviously he has to write a children’s book that will take down Trump, start a podcast to take down Trump, and probably develop an anti-Trump mobile video game to get rid of the president. He should come up with a diet and exercise program to take down his weight and cholesterol level, but I doubt he will.
