They say when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Apparently in Grand Forks, ND every problem can be solved with a fork, or at least a fork lift. The problem according to one whacked out North Dakota leftist was that the American people voted Donald J. Trump into office instead of that brain damaged liar they wanted. A future liberal Hall-of-Famer was just convicted of trying to kill President Trump using a forklift, which only qualifies as the 25th stupidest assassination plot since he took office.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that 42-year-old Gregory Lee Leingang was dismayed by the results of the 2016 election and saw an opportunity to do something about it when Trump visited North Dakota is September of 2017. The President gave a speech about the economy at an oil refinery and Leingang knew part of his motorcade route.
Using his insane liberal brain, Leingang came up with a sinister plot to do the president in. First, he set a couple of fires for no apparent reason and then he stole a forklift from a local business. He drove the forklift to Trump’s motorcade route, but the plan was foiled when he tried to drive through a gate and the vehicle got stuck. Not everything is as badass as it looks in a Hollywood chase scene.
With his stolen forklift disabled and his plan gone to shit, Leingang fled but was quickly apprehended by local police. He readily admitted that he was trying to kill President Trump.
“The intent was to basically try to get to the limo, flip the limo and get to the president and he wanted to kill the president,” U.S. Assistant State’s Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell said.
Leingang’s public defender, Michelle Monteiro, tried to argue that her client wasn’t some kind of leftist nut, just a regular nut.
“He was suffering a serious psychiatric crisis during this incident,” said Monteiro.
Well, Trump Derangement Syndrome is a serious mental condition, but actually Leingang has been diagnosed with having Attention Deficit Disorder. I don’t know, stealing a forklift to flip the President’s limo and kill him seems like a pretty focused plan to me. Sure, the execution sucked, but he definitely had his mind on the details all the way.
Leingang was convicted on arson, burglary, and forklift jacking, getting a 20-year sentence in the state penitentiary. He also struck a plea deal with the feds and pleaded guilty to “one count of attempting to enter or remain in a restricted building and on grounds while using a dangerous weapon, as well one count of attempting to damage government property” which sound like made-up charges. He tried to kill the President of the United States, why not charge him with that?
I remember hearing briefly about this when it happened, but it was never very big news, which is weird given the insanity of it all. Also, I’m surprised liberals didn’t nominate Leingang for sainthood, given their particular hatred for the duly-elected POTUS. He should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame for “resisting” and should figure prominently in DNC fundraising emails. Maybe the news of his conviction will elevate him to cult hero among those awful rotten people on the left.
