It may be that Michael Cohen’s recent plea deal with rogue special counsel Robert Mueller isn’t going to spare him from time in the pokey after all.
There was much media fanfare last week when the news broke that President Trump’s disgraced ex-lawyer had spent hours with Mueller’s team of “angry Democrats” and sang like a canary to provide the ruthless prosecutor with material that would be added to the “evidence” that Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin during the runup to the 2016 election.
Like most of those who were formerly hated by the political left before they turned on Trump, Cohen quickly became a hero in the cause for the reversal of Trump’s win and the nullification of the votes of 63 million Americans who sent him to the White House. The pundits and the social media-obsessed celebs immediately rejoiced and predicted that Cohen would be the one who finally would produce the silver bullet that would rid them of Trump.
Cohen even thought that he had saved his own skin and last Friday, his attorneys made the case that the cheese-eating rat should be afforded leniency and spared from serving as little as one minute in prison after he cooperated with Mueller’s witch hunt.
One of the key components of Cohen’s deal with the devil was his willingness to “sing and compose” about scuttled plans to build a Trump hotel in Russia and as it is alleged by an FBI informant who goes by the name of “The Quarterback” was going to give the fully-demonized Vladimir Putin a $50 million penthouse apartment as a sweetener.

That, however, may not happen and Cohen may be headed to the slammer soon despite his flipping on Trump.

Via USA Today, “Feds: Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen should get ‘substantial prison term‘”:
Federal prosecutors on Friday sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s ex-personal attorney Michael Cohen, saying he should serve “a substantial prison term” for trying to buy the silence of two women who said they had sexual affairs with Trump, for evading federal income taxes and for lying to banks.
In a sentencing memo, the prosecutors from the Southern District of New York outlined four different federal crimes committed by Cohen over several years, writing that he “repeatedly used his power and influence for deceptive ends.”
The memos submitted to U.S. District Judge William Pauley provided details of the crimes to which Cohen has pleaded guilty, his cooperation with the special counsel, and what prosecutors think it was worth.
They also recounted Cohen’s interaction with Trump as the attorney committed crimes. The New York prosecutors wrote that Cohen violated campaign finance laws “in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1” – Trump.
And Mueller’s team wrote that “the fact that Cohen continued to work on the [Moscow] project and discuss it with Individual 1 well into the campaign was material” to investigations by Congress and the special counsel “particularly because it occurred at a time of sustained efforts by the Russian government to interfere with the U.S. presidential election.”
Pauley is scheduled to sentence Cohen on Wednesday. He asked last week to be spared prison time for his cooperation. But the prosecutors in New York said he should serve roughly 42 months.
The prosecutors said Cohen deserved some credit for providing information to Mueller and other investigators. But they also criticized him for maintaining what they called a “rose-colored view” of his conduct.
“The crimes committed by Cohen were more serious than his submission allows and were marked by a pattern of deception that permeated his professional life,” they wrote.
They stressed that Cohen does not have a formal cooperation agreement with the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office, and argued he should not get the leniency that “a traditional cooperating witness would receive.”
“After cheating the IRS for years, lying to the banks and to Congress, and seeking to criminally influence the Presidential election, Cohen’s decision to plead guilty – rather than seek a pardon for his manifold crimes – does not make him a hero,” they concluded.
If Cohen does end up being sentenced to a considerable amount of time behind bars it would be a delightful bit of schadenfreude for many including the president who after the news of the deal broke tweeted:
“Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time.” You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get…..

….his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free. He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence.

Even a couple of years in prison could be a crushing punishment for a guy who outsmarted himself by collaborating with Mueller’s frame job because snitches are only a few rungs up from sex offenders when it comes to the inmate hierarchy.
Paging Mr. Cohen, karma is calling on line one and she’s a real bitch, just like this conniving shyster is going to be the bitch of the cell block when he’s pimped out for cigarettes.
Maybe liberals can start up a GoFundMe account to get this dude a four year supply of soap on a rope.
