Sunday was yet another one of those sanctimonious celebrity circle jerk award shows where all of the beautiful people could get political, talk tough and wallow in each other’s decadence.
In the first such virtue signaling extravaganza of the new year, it was actor Christian Bale who bagged the award for world’s biggest asshole when during his acceptance speech, he thanked none other than Satan for his success.
The versatile thespian who is best known for playing Batman in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy on the caped crusader was celebrated for his performance as former Vice President Dick Cheney in the movie “Vice” which if not for him having the wrong skin color, would likely have also delivered the best actor Oscar to the Brit.

Christian Bale thanked an unexpected entity when he accepted the Golden Globe for his role as Dick Cheney in the film Vice.
‘Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,’ he said of his Dick Cheney character in an apparent snub to the former vice president.
The political satire shows an unrecognizable Bale as Cheney, depicting the former second-in-command as the ruthless mastermind behind George W Bush’s presidency, which has gotten the film large criticism by conservatives.
And it wasn’t just what Bale said in his speech that sent social media ablaze – but how he said it, with viewers gushing over his strong British accent.
Bale’s Satanic comment got plenty of laughs from Hollywood’s elite Sunday night, as he continued to joke politics saying, ‘What do you think, [playing] Mitch McConnell next?’
The remark was more than likely tongue-in-cheek but how many of these people really do worship the devil?
Even more impressed than his fellow celebs? How about the Church Of Satan?
The organization sang Bale’s praises on Twitter:
