Body Cam Theater! Today’s Episode: “Two For the Road”

Normally I try not to post body cam videos that don’t show the suspects actually get shot. It’s kind of like a tease. For instance, today I found footage today of a shooting in Flagstaff that would have been awesome only it’s edited right at the moment of truth. Here’s that one.

See what I mean? That would have been awesome, but no “money shot.” But it is satisfying to know that the corpse in this one, Henry Harold Russell was a pedophile and he didn’t die right away. The Daily Mail reports, “Romney and his partner began providing lifesaving measures until medics arrived. Russell was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. Records indicate that Russell was a registered sex offender in Idaho stemming from a conviction on a charge of sex abuse of a child under age 16. ” So good riddance to you and I’m glad you suffered, pervert.

Which brings us to today’s episode. You don’t see the shooting in this one, but you can hear it. I found the circumstances to be so bizarre that I decided to post it.

Dramatic moment driver, 35, who tried to help a fugitive evade arrest is shot dead by a cop being dragged along the road by the suspect’s fleeing SUV

A driver who tried to help a suspect evade arrest was shot and killed by a police officer who was being dragged down the road by his SUV.

Dramatic body cam footage has now been released by the Kansas Highway Patrol documenting the November 27 altercation.

The tape begins with two officers approaching the female driver of a car who police say attempted to evade arrest earlier in the day, in Topeka, Kansas.

Later identified to be Chelsee Retana, 26, the suspect appeared to lunge for an item near the center control console – prompting one officer to hoist her out of the car and onto the ground.

Here’s the lovely Chelsee Retana. Looks like a sweet girl, huh?

As the officers – who’ve not been named – attempted to handcuff her, a silver SUV driven by Jarmane Logan, 35, pulled up alongside them.

And just who was the carcass formerly known as Jarmane? 13WIBW tells us. “Kansas Dept. of Corrections records show Logan was listed as an absconder Oct. 5, on a Leavenworth Co. charge of criminal possession of a firearm. He previously served time for Shawnee Co. convictions including robbery, forgery, and drug possession.” In other words, a thug.

He looks so dumb that a headshot probably wouldn’t have killed him. Must have been hit in the body.

Freeing herself from the officer’s grip, Retana opened the SUV’s passenger door and jumped inside as it started to drive off.

Just a random bad Samaritan passing by? No, you see the thug and the thugette were kinda sweet on each other. Prince not-so-charming to was coming to the rescue of his dumbass in distress.

The happy couple. Oh, that little red box at upper right is a message from Jarmane. It reads, “Til Death.” Hey, at least this guy kept his promise . . .

Clinging onto the fleeing vehicle, one officer was dragged along the icy road for several steps before firing his weapon as he fell to the ground.

Shame on the officer for allowing Chelsee to escape, but how about that shooting? He got two shots off while being sent flying off the vehicle, somehow managing to miss the thugette and dispatch the thug driving the vehicle. Nice!

The silver SUV carried on driving at speed for two blocks but suddenly ground to a halt in the distance.

Jarmane Logan was critically injured by the bullet and was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Neither of the officers involved in the incident suffered serious injury.

Last month, Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay said the Highway trooper was justified in fatally shooting Logan.

The unnamed officer will face no charges in relation to the incident.

Retana fled the seen as the vehicle stopped but was recaptured by Kansas police two weeks later.

She has been charged with interference with law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.

Retana is currently being detained at Shawnee County Jail, where she is being held on a bond of $150,000.

A preliminary court date has been set for March 28.

And poor Chelsea is sure to do some time as, not surprisingly, she has a previous record. A 2012 article in The Topeka Capital-Journal stated, “Retana, of Topeka, was being held Wednesday morning on $1,000 cash or professional surety bond in connection with felony obstruction, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and city warrants.”

Good luck in prison.
