Texas Attorney General Calls For Investigation Into Chick-Fil-A Airport Ban

This vile anti-Christian bigotry shall not stand!

The far-left activists on the San Antonio city council who recently succeeded in banning Chick-Fil-A from the local airport may soon be facing consequences for the move that many believe is rooted in hostility toward Christians.

The popular chain has been ensconced atop the left’s massive hate list ever since they determined that it was a threat to gay marriage and the promotion of the larger agenda of forcibly imposing their ideology on all who disagree with them by smearing them as bigots and engaging in organized bullying campaigns.

Despite giving back to communities by supporting a number of charitable causes, Chick-Fil-A continues to be demonized by extremists including House Democrats who last year made a big show of banning the “ideological food” from their traditional pre-Thanksgiving meal last year.

This time, it was the petty fascists in San Antonio who forced their intolerance of those whose religious beliefs conflict with their lifestyles down the throats of others by effectively preventing the company that they smeared as a ‘symbol of hate’ from the food court area at the airport.

Chick-Fil-A has long had a reputation for being anti-LGBTQ.

In 2012, the company’s CEO, Dan T. Cathy, said he opposed marriage equality. It was revealed the company donated millions of dollars to political groups seen as hostile to LGBTQ rights. Later that year, Chick-Fil-A released a statement saying. “Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”

However, recently released 2017 tax filings show the Chick-Fil-A Foundation donated more than $1.8 million to three groups with anti-LGBTQ policies.

District 1 City Councilman Roberto C. Treviño told Out In SA that he motioned for Paradies to secure another national brand to replace Chick-Fil-A. The motion before the City Council was amended to exclude Chick-Fil-A and was passed after a lengthy discussion.

“With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion,” Treviño said in a prepared statement. “San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we don’t have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.”

Once again Americans are under attack by those who want to tell them what to eat and what to think – or else.

The discriminatory and overtly totalitarian move has now been met with a probe by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton who is himself a conservative Christian.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating the city of San Antonio for potential First Amendment violations after the City Council voted to prevent Chick-fil-A — a franchise known for opposing same-sex marriage — from opening a location in the city’s airport.

“The Constitution’s protection of religious liberty is somehow even better than Chick-fil-A’s chicken,” Paxton, a Republican, wrote in a Thursday letter to San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and the rest of the council. “Unfortunately, I have serious concerns that both are under assault at the San Antonio airport.”

In a 6-4 vote, the council voted last week to keep the franchise from opening at the San Antonio International Airport. The decision quickly drew national headlines and condemnations from conservatives across the country.

Chick-Fil-A, a national franchise with locations throughout Texas, is known for its leaders’ staunch Christian views and close ties to groups that worked to prevent the legalization of same-sex marriage. Its corporate purpose is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.” It is, famously, “closed on Sundays.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott also decried the Chick-Fil-A ban as religious discrimination.

Attorney General Paxton also put the San Antonio politicians on notice that the ban is possibly a violation of federal law and he sent a letter to Elaine Chao, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation requesting that the feds also open a probe against the city council.

Last week, the San Antonio City Council voted to discriminate against a popular American fast food restaurant—Chick-fil-A—because of that organization’s religious beliefs … the City’s decision to specifically exclude Chick-fil-A from a government program based on the sincerely-held religious beliefs of its leadership raises serious constitutional questions … In addition to potential violations of the First Amendment, it seems likely the City of San Antonio’s apparent discrimination against Chick-fil-A violates various federal statutes and regulations to which the City is subject as a recipient of Department of Transportation grant funds … There is no evidence indicating that Chik-fil-A has ever maintained any policy or practice of discriminating against any group of people, and the City offered no such evidence as the basis of its action. Indeed, shortly after the City’s decision was announced, a member of the City Council who dissented from the City’s decision openly apologized to the Chairman of Chick-fil-A, noting that the restaurant “employs and serves everyone, without prejudice, discrimination or hate.”

Making the case for a federal investigation into what is increasingly looking like an organized campaign against religious freedom, a second airport has also banned Chick-Fil-A from the airport, this time in upstate New York.

The obvious place to start an investigation would be with determining who is funding this campaign of economic terrorism because it appears to be a coordinated and highly organized national effort to inflict punishment upon Chick-Fil-A as a symbol of Christianity.

There is probably no bottom to this particular snakepit and few would be surprised if the same murky organizations that are behind this are also behind other efforts to destabilize the nation.
