McDonald’s Mini-McRiot Breaks Out in Atlantic City

Another brawl erupted at a fast food establishment Saturday. No one seems certain what caused it, which makes it difficult for me to provide much of an intro for the story. But it’s just yet another display of outrageous behavior that I wanted to share with you.

McDonald’s security guard pepper-sprayed by customer during melee in Atlantic City

Police are investigating a lengthy melee at a McDonald’s restaurant in Atlantic City that involved a woman standing on a counter and twice pepper-spraying a security guard during a fight over the weekend.

I can’t say that I’ve ever been to a McDonald’s that had a security guard present. But with customers like the ones you’re about to see in the video frequenting the establishment, I can understand why this particular one has one. Two would be better. Actually, a police sub-station located somewhere in the kitchen with several holding cells might be even more appropriate.

Officers were called to the fast-food eatery on Arkansas Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Saturday after a skirmish broke out inside, Sgt. Kevin Fair said Monday morning.

Video posted on the Facebook page of Scan Atlantic City shows women already behind the counter tossing wrapped food and straws during a chaotic scene. One of the women then climbs on the counter and pepper-sprays a security guard twice.

She then shakes the canister again but doesn’t appear to spray anyone else. A couple of other people toss straws and other items before a group that includes the woman runs from the restaurant amid shouting.

As is typical during these events, no one intervenes to put a halt to the chaos. Instead they record it and twelve seconds into the video one bystander, perhaps the person recording, shouts, “World Star!” A reference to website World Star Hiphop which “regularly features public fighting caught on video, music videos and assorted content targeted to young [black] audiences” and is called by its creator, the “CNN of the ghetto.” Which is saying a lot because considering CNN’s shoddy reporting and fake news CNN is pretty ghetto all on it’s own. So there is little doubt this video will end up there.

No one has been issued a summons or arrested, Fair said. The fight is under investigation.

BreakingAC.com said one of the instigators of the fight had a “previous issue with an employee.”

Which makes this story even more confusing, because that article states, “Security guard Tony Algarin said it appeared an employee at the restaurant on Arkansas Avenue had a previous issue with one of the employees.

So an employee attacked another employee? But in the video I don’t see anyone in a McDonald’s uniform participating in the shenanigans. So, either Algarin is confused or it was simply poor reporting. Or maybe the thugs and thugettes involved just saw an opportunity to tear shit up and seized the moment.

“I tried to step in between and intervene in the attack on the employees while, at the same time, trying to call the cops, which is my job,” Algarin — who also goes by Peter Dare-Gentile — told BreakingAC.

A security guard with an alias? Strange, but whatever. He seems like a decent guy.

“It’s sad that you try to work hard and make an honest living like everyone else and this is the kind disrespect you have to go through,” he said.

Algarin said he may want to become a police officer someday, but not in his hometown of Atlantic City.”

Good for him on two counts. First, for wanting to become a LEO. And second, for being wise enough to not wanting to be a LEO in Atlantic City. I wouldn’t want to be a cop there either if events such as these are commonplace. Just leave the trash alone and let them destroy each other.
