Phony Libertarian Turncoat Justin Amash Torches Himself Over Impeachment

Sane people can be forgiven if they have the impression that Democrats and the media would take up with Hitler or even Satan as long as they opposed Trump…

He has been hailed by the media as a hero of the anti-Trump resistance but Rep. Justin Amash’s choice to throw in with Democrats over the impeachment of President Trump isn’t likely to boost his political career as much as he would like to think.

The congressman from Michigan who claims that he is a libertarian took a decidedly anti-libertarian stance when he sided with those who have resorted to spying on the political campaign of an enemy and then mounting an extra-constitutional coup against the legitimately elected President Of The United States.

But Amash is an ambitious man and the best way to stand out from the pack is to be the ONLY Republican member of the House to go rogue and join up with the enemies of democracy who are not only working 24/7 to overturn the 2016 election, but to eliminate Trump so that they don’t have to lose to him again in 2020.

However, sometimes when one sticks out their neck, it ends up on the chopping block.

Not only have no other GOP House members joined Amash who aside from the media, Democrats and Mitt Romney (but I repeat myself) but he has been pummeled by Trump along with the Freedom Caucus of which he is a member of which has formally condemned him.

Even though the Freedom Caucus stopped short of kicking his treacherous ass across the aisle where it belongs, his showboating is already looking to be doomed to futility.

Interestingly enough, it is being reported that Amash’s family has financial interests in China that stand to be dinged over Trump’s hard line with the totalitarian, human rights abusing empire of evil.

According to the Conservative Treehouse, “Republican Justin Amash Calls for Impeachment – While Holding Personal Business Interests in China…”:

Michigan Republican Congressman Justin Amash made headlines Saturday by declaring on Twitter that President Trump deserved impeachment. The media was quick to promote his position and advance an anti-Trump narrative. However, a review of Amash’s financial interests quickly reveals a very personal business motive. His family tool business is heavily invested in Chinese manufacturing.

In his 2017 financial disclosure forms (pdf here), Representative Amash reports income of between $100,000 to $1,000,000/yr. for his ownership stake in Michigan Industrial Tools.  Michigan Industrial Tools is the parent company, manufacturing in China, that produces Tekton Tools, Justin Amash’s Michigan family business.

You know that it’s bad when even CNN fesses up that Amash’s betrayal is a lost cause.

Partisan hack Chris Cillizza mourns how Amash is destined for a similar fate as other anti-Trump “Republicans” like Jeff Flake and Bob Corker.

Via CNN:

Trump went after Flake. Flake’s poll numbers cratered. He was forced to retire. While Flake’s colleague Sen. Bob Corker wasn’t forced out in quite the same way, there’s no doubt that his criticism of Trump — and the President’s reaction to it — hurt his poll numbers as he considered running again in 2018.

The message here for Republicans weighing a public break with Trump on impeachment (or anything else) is clear: Raise your head up and watch him chop it off.

And the simple truth of politics is that most politicians value keeping their jobs — and the possibility of higher office in the future — over everything else. Standing by your principles sounds good! But when the rubber meets the road and standing by your principles also badly endangers you politically, most politicians swallow those allegedly foundational principles.

But it is equally true that if there were no — or minimal — political consequences to speaking out against Trump, there would be lots (and lots) more GOPers like Amash stepping forward. But with the President at 90% approval among Republicans, according to the latest Gallup national poll, there’s zero incentive for any wavering Republicans to step forward and stand beside Amash. In fact, there’s a disincentive since not only will the Republican base likely turn against you, you won’t win over Democrats with such a move because Trump has so polarized both sides of the political world.

And so, Amash is likely to be a man apart — and unfollowed. He may come into praise from some Republicans for his principled stand, but those same Republicans won’t follow him out on that limb. (Looking at you, Mitt Romney!) But add up all that praise for principles and you get exactly squat.

Cillizza seems to really have his finger on the pulse on this one because Amash has already drawn a primary challenger.

Amash may well lose his congressional seat but will quickly find a new one at CNN where an all-star lineup of Trump haters will welcome him with open arms.
