Kirsten Gillibrand may only have 0% support for her presidential campaign, but she lies 100% about guns and the NRA. In a town hall on Fox News the NY Senator told one whopper after another and for the most part moderator Chris Wallace let her get away with it. For all the liberal crybabies who complain that Fox is President Trump’s “state TV”, Sunday night they were a vehicle for democrats to spread bullshit.
Dumb blonde joke Kirsten Gillibrand began her town hall almost immediately losing her shit over our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms:
“The NRA is the worst organization in this country. They care more about their profits than the American people, they care more about selling guns to someone on the terror watch list or with grave mental illness or who has a violent criminal background,” screamed Gillibrand.
Fact Check: The NRA is a non-profit organization that doesn’t sell guns. People with mental illness and a violent criminal background are banned from owning guns and the NRA hasn’t done one thing to oppose those restrictions. People on the terror watch list have not been accused of or convicted of any criminal wrong doing and it would be unconstitutional to strip them of their rights without due process.
“The NRA is lying to the American people, it is not about the Second Amendment. … [The NRA] wants to make sure an abuser who has a restraining order against him can buy a weapon,” Gillibrand said.
Fact Check: The NRA’s mission statement is to defend the 2nd Amendment, similar to Gillibrand’s oath of office to uphold the Constitution. Domestic abusers and people with restraining orders are banned from owning guns and the NRA supports this.
“Remember, after the shooting in Las Vegas [Trump] said, ‘we’re going to ban the bump stocks.’ Did he ban the bump stocks? No! Because the NRA came crashing down,” said Gillibrand.
Fact Check: President Trump did ban bump stocks and the NRA never came crashing down on him.
“I will make sure we ban the bump stocks, the large magazines, the assault rifles, the military-style weapons,” Gillibrand said.
Fact Check: Bump stocks are already banned, duh. Also, “assault rifles” were effectively banned in the mid 1980’s so maybe find something else to freak out about.
After pointing out all of the “new” gun control laws she would introduce, Wallace asked Gillibrand if any of this crap would have stopped the mass shooting in Virginia Beach and her answer was the dumbest thing she said:
“Yeah, stop being beholden to the NRA,” replied Gillibrand.
Fact Check: The Virginia Beach shooter used 2 legally purchased handguns so the only way a new gun control law would have stopped him would be a complete and total ban on private gun ownership.
“I understand the importance of having a hunting culture and preserving our 2nd Amendment rights and that’s why I’m in the best position to lead this country into a place where we can have common sense gun reform,” said Gillibrand.
Fact Check: the 2nd Amendment doesn’t say anything about hunting and someone, such as Gillibrand, who wants to put massive restrictions on gun ownership clearly doesn’t understand the importance of preserving our 2nd Amendment rights.
It’s not a shock that democrats like Gillibrand have to lie about their positions; what they believe in is awful and indefensible using the truth. Killing babies, stripping constitutional rights, and socialism are all things most people would reject if presented with straight facts, so democrats lie, rebrand, and employ euphemisms to make them seem less shitty.
Finally, let’s get one last fact check in: Gillibrand said the NRA is the worst organization in the country, but Planned Parenthood kills a million babies every year and the Democratic Party straight-up owned slaves. Those two shit-shows are clearly worse than this country’s oldest civil rights organization who fights to preserve the Constitution every single day.
