Does Bernie Sanders have his finger on the pulse of America or what? The elderly part-time democrat actually said he believes Americans would love to pay more in taxes if he were able to turn the country socialist. Does this belief come from any polling or is it one of those thing that only exists in his mind like how orgasms cure cancer? He probably should have tried this out on a focus group before going national with it.
Sanders was on CNN and because Anderson Cooper is a shill for the democratic party, he tried to warn the 2020 presidential candidate that the Republicans were going to try to smear him as a socialist. Cooper then gave Sanders the opportunity to differentiate between the failed socialism of Venezuela and his own brand of socialism.
“The United States is the only major country on Earth not to guarantee health care to all people as a right,” started Sanders.
What about ObamaCare? If I remember correctly this law mandated that everyone buy health insurance under penalty of law. Doesn’t that mean that everyone in America has health care?
Sanders then went on to say that people get free college in Germany and are paid to go to college in Finland. He added that income inequality is lower everywhere else on the planet. Oddly, Anderson Cooper had some thoughts on this:
“The taxes in many of those countries are much higher than they are, the individual personal taxes are much higher than in the United States,” said Cooper.
Get ready for this…
“But I suspect that people in this country would be delighted to pay more in taxes if they had comprehensive health care as a human right,” said Sanders.
Delighted? Who’s he kidding? Could it be that he doesn’t actually know any Americans? That has to be it if he thinks we would be willing to pay more in taxes for anything, let alone another bloated big-government social program.
Hey, at least Sanders found himself a great new campaign slogan: “Bernie 2020 – You’ll be delighted when I take your money.” I can’t wait to see those bumperstickers on the back of hybrids going 45mph in the HOV lane.
Obviously Sanders is wrong about this, but I’m not sure he understands how wrong. Most working people get health insurance through their employer so right off the bat most Americans are not going to be delighted to give up more of their paycheck for something they already have. Rich people pay for their own health care and are already taxed at a higher rate, so they aren’t going to be doing high-fives if they have pay even more.
That just leaves the poor and unemployed who would benefit from this “free” healthcare, but they don’t pay any taxes. It’s dishonest to say that people who don’t pay taxes would be delighted in paying more taxes.
In reality, there isn’t any group of people, let alone a majority of Americans as Bernie claims, who would enjoy giving more money to the government. Even bitchy liberals who say we need this socialist crap would balk at giving up their hard-earned cash when it comes down to it. They like the theory, not the practice, especially when it applies to them.
Who would have thought that that 1000-year-old socialist would be this out-of-touch with the people of a great capitalist society like the United States? What’s next for Bernie’s fantasies? Is going to claim that Americans would love to stand in line for a week to get toilet paper? Maybe that Americans would cream themselves to eat wild rabbits because there’s no food in the state-run grocery stores?
