Some people just have to learn things the hard way. When police in Georgia caught a gaggle of pot smoking teenagers, one of the teens thought it would be a wise move to flee. Bad decision. See, the idiot tried to climb a fence, got tased, fell off, and broke his freakin’ neck.
A 19-year-old is in the intensive care unit at Grady Memorial Hospital after suffering a broken neck and a spinal cord injury while running from McDonough police, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Jaylin Hughes was injured after an officer used his Taser on the teen as he attempted to climb a fence and get away, authorities told the news station.
Officers tried to arrest Hughes and three others on June 12 after they were seen smoking marijuana in a car parked at an apartment complex along Flowers Creek Drive, according to police.
“He attempted to climb the fence and was unsuccessful,” McDonough police Maj. Kyle Helgerson said. “The officer gave verbal notice that he was going to deploy his Taser and did … Apparently Mr. Hughes’ momentum pulled him over the fence and he slipped out of the officer’s hands.”
The incident is the subject of an internal affairs investigation, Channel 2 reported. But Hughes’ family said they’re concerned he may never walk again. “I’m having trouble trying to understand how a minor incident leaves a kid paralyzed,” Jaylin’s uncle, Sidney Hughes, told Channel 2.
Ever notice how when things like this happen if a male family member speaks to the media it’s always an uncle or some other relative other than the father. Might that have something to do with this punk’s lack of respect for the law? Hmm.
Anyway, allow me to explain it to you, Sidney. See, Jaylin made a poor choice. HE turned what would have been a minor incident into a major one. I mean smoking weed? If he had no prior record I’m sure he would have just got a slap on the wrist. But no, he was born to run, escalated the situation, and broke his freakin’ neck.
Hughes is charged with obstruction and possession of marijuana, police said.
Although we don’t have the body cam footage yet because the investigation is still ongoing, what’s telling is that “Police officials said the officer who deployed his Taser remains on active duty, stating there is no evidence that a crime was committed.”
No crime. The kid just fell and broke his freakin’ neck. At least he won’t be running from cops anymore. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
