Journalism, y’all. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews can’t figure out why Kamala Harris doesn’t hate white people. So much so that he actually asked her “why you no hate whitey?” You know, because it’s a completely normal thing for a journalist to ask politicians why they aren’t more furious at people from other races. The craziest thing is that Matthews phrased this question like: “What’s the matter with you? Why don’t you hate white people?”
In Thursday’s round 2 of the 2020 democratic candidate debates, Sen. Kamala Harris got in former VP Joe Biden’s face about his past racism. More specifically, she questioned his opposition to racial integration and vote against bussing minority students to less shitty white schools. She pointed out that she was one of those minority students who had a better opportunity because she was bussed out of the ghetto to Honkytown for her early education.
In a post debate interview Chris Matthews brought this moment up and this was the only question on his mind:
“This is really important to people of all backgrounds and ethnicities, I don’t like the word race. Ethnicities,” started Matthews.
You know this is going to be good because Chris Matthews starts the question off by essentially claiming the word “race” is racist. Despite not liking the word “race” Matthews got everything down to race:
“How did you come out of that and not have hatred for white people generally?” Matthews asked.
Is he f*cking serious? Sadly, yes.
Here’s the thing. Kamala Harris was bussed to a better whiter school and it gave her more opportunity to succeed. Sure, she had to bang a black dude to jump start her political career, but going to a better school got her into college. Getting bussed to a predominately white school was a good thing for her and yet Matthews wants to know why the experience didn’t leave her hating the white man. What a tool.
Harris was actually thrown for a loop by this question and could only muster a, “No.” Here is the actual look on Harris’ face when Matthews asked that question:
From there Matthews went completely incoherent.
“Because you talked about being a kid and having other kids being kept off as friends because their parents look at you as someone else,” said Matthews.
Huh? Does anyone have a Matthews-to-English dictionary so I can decipher that question?
For the record, Kamala Harris is married to a white guy. Her campaign tries to hide that fact because she is struggling to get support from the black community and the last thing black people want to know is that she has the opposite of “jungle fever.” Actually, when Matthews asked her why she doesn’t hate white people, she should have responded that she hates whitey with a passion. It might have helped boost her support with black voters.
What takes this to insane levels of…well, insanity is that Chris Matthews has previously questioned whether Kamala Harris is even black:
“Is she seen as African-American? Is she seen as African-American?” Matthews asked when Harris announced her candidacy in January.
So Matthews isn’t sure if Harris is black, but also want to know why she doesn’t hate whites.
I think the most important question here is: why is Chris Matthews on TV? This guy is a complete joke. I guess he could host a late night comedy show, but his comedy is unintentional.
Can you imagine Sheppard Smith or Chris Wallace asking Pete Buttigieg why he doesn’t hate straight people more? Or Tulsi Gabbard why she doesn’t hate Muslims more? Or Elizabeth Warren why she doesn’t hate Native Americans more. Actually that last one is a legitimate question because they totally busted her lie, but you get the point.
For a network that employs Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton, somehow Chris Matthews shines as the most garbage journalist on MSNBC. Now that I think about it, Matthews probably stole that question from Reverend Al and there’s going to be a justice march as a result.
