Yesterday in Philadelphia a convicted felon and drug dealer shot 6 police officers, who all thankfully survived. Democrats don’t particularly like cops but they do love exploiting any shooting to push their do-nothing unconstitutional gun control agenda. That’s why Elizabeth Warren is using the occasion to demand a law that would ban convicted felons from possessing firearms and using them to shoot law enforcement officers. Who wants to tell her?
On Wednesday Philadelphia police officers tried to serve a drug trafficking warrant on 36-year old Maurice Hill. The career scumbag decided he didn’t want to go quietly and opened fire on the officers, wounding six including one who was grazed in the head by a bullet. All of the officers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. After an hours long standoff, Hill eventually surrendered.
As Fox News reports, Hill has a long criminal history:
The man accused of opening fire on Philadelphia police officers, wounding six and triggering an hours-long standoff that stretched into the night, has been arrested at least a dozen times since turning 18 — a rap sheet the city’s top cop described as an “extensive” criminal history.
The 36-year-old has been in and out of prison since 2002 after convictions for such crimes as illegal possession of guns and aggravated assault…
In 2013, Hill was convicted of perjury and was sentenced to seven months of probation. Records…also showed dozens of serious charges over the years that were later withdrawn in court.
Hill also spent time in federal prison, pleading guilty to federal firearms violations in 2008 after he was caught with a Smith & Wesson .357 and a Taurus PT .45 semiautomatic…Prior felony convictions should have kept him from owning those weapons, and a federal judge sentenced him to four years and seven months in prison…
Ok, this is a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, which is crime. He was in possession of a firearm while dealing narcotics, which is a crime. He attempted to murder 6 police officers, which my research shows is also a crime. For some weird reason this career criminal chose not to follow any of the laws on the books.

Please oh wise one, enlighten us and tell us what new gun control law would have stopped this asshole from doing what he did.
Expanded background checks? This guy didn’t buy his guns legally from a licensed dealer.
Red flag laws? If he wasn’t willing to turn over his illegal firearms on a drug trafficking warrant, chances are he wouldn’t surrender them because his ex-girlfriend said he’s crazy.
Assault weapons ban? Does anyone think this guy wold participate in a mandatory gun buyback?
Close the Internet loophole? Since the Internet loophole doesn’t exist, closing it would have zero effect on anything.
Maybe Warren thinks if we make all of the existing laws Hill broke doubly-illegal criminals will finally stop breaking them. If that doesn’t stop crime we could make things triple-dog illegal and put an end to the violence forever.
Warren released her gun control plan earlier this week and much of it focuses on her destroying the NRA through executive action. Trouncing our civil rights and the biggest defender of those rights isn’t going to stop one crime from occurring or save one life. It will amp up the carnage however when all the good people are disarmed and only violent criminals like Maurice Hill have guns.
