You know what? Let’s amend that headline a bit: Socialist Millionaire Bernie Sanders Who Has Never Had A Real Job Outside Of Elected Office Says He Knows What It’s Like To Live Paycheck To Paycheck. Really? When? The only reason this guy is in politics is because he is unemployable and can’t make a living in the private sector, which would explain his extreme hatred for capitalism, BTW. Don’t you just love it when rich liberal elites pretend they are just like regular people?
Here’s a tweet Bernie thought would give him some working-class cred:
Unlike Donald Trump, I know what it’s like to be in a family that lives paycheck to paycheck.

According to Wikipedia, Bernie Sanders’ only jobs for the first 16 years of his post-academic life were “writer” and “filmmaker.” I don’t believe either of those things generated a paycheck, so it’s very dishonest for him to say the he ever lived paycheck to paycheck. I have no idea how he was supported during those years but I’m sure it has something to do with communism.
In 1980 Bernie got his first paying gig as Mayor of Burlington. Vermont. I’m not even kidding about this, he was inspired to run for political office because he figured if Adolf Hitler could get elected, so could he. This is again from Wikipedia:
Sanders became interested in politics at an early age: “A guy named Adolf Hitler won an election in 1932. He won an election, and 50 million people died as a result of that election in World War II, including 6 million Jews. So what I learned as a little kid is that politics is, in fact, very important.”
Usually liberals say JFK and/or RFK inspired them to get into politics but Bernie went a different way.
Bernie was mayor of Burlington for 8 years and then took 2 years off of being employed to refine his socialism. In 1990 ran for and won a U.S. House seat, which he would occupy from 1991-2007. He then became a U.S Senator who would go on to pass zero legislation in 12 years.
Oh, and somewhere along the line during his political career he amassed a fortune and bought 3 mansions, which is a common thing in socialism apparently.
At what point in this illustrious career of pretending to be a public servant did Bernie live paycheck to paycheck?
Because liberals are creative with language, Bernie may skate by on a technicality here. He has been drawing a paycheck from taxpayers for most of his life and in between those paychecks he was alive.
Even if we pretend that Bernie was ever a working man, struggling to get by, how does that make him an expert on the plight of the working-class? His plans are to put most working people out of work with unnaturally high minimum wages that will kill jobs. He wants to eliminate all energy industry jobs in the name of fighting mythical global warming. He wants to to take almost all of everyone’s paycheck to pay for “free” stuff that primarily benefits unemployed lazy people.
Based on everything Bernie wants to do, he actually has no idea what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. If he did, he’d understand that keeping most of one’s paycheck is the most import thing in that formula.
