There’s a lot of side-competitions going on in the democratic primary race: the race to see who’s the biggest socialist, the race to prove who’s the biggest kook, and of course the race to show who has the least amount of respect for our civil rights. Pete Buttigieg took a huge lead in that last race Wednesday when he characterized the 2nd Amendment as something that only protects slingshots and water balloons. All other weapons, according to Mayor Pete, can be banned under his ridiculous interpretation of the Constitution.
MSNBC held a gun control forum on Wednesday featuring most of the 2020 democratic candidates. Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg went first and set the tone for what was an orgy of liberal gun rights hatred.
Buttigieg started out by asserting his authority in deciding what types of weapons Americans are allowed to own.
“First of all, we get to draw the line and secondly it should be drawn a lot tighter than it is now. Anything like an AR-15 zample just has no business being sold anywhere near an American school or neighborhood,” said Buttigieg.
So he’s cool with AR-15s being sold out in the wilderness? Also, he really did say “AR-15 zample.” It’s unclear what those are but presumably the “zample” ARs are the “weapons of war.”
Mayor Pete then defended his position that AR-15 zamples can’t be sold near schools or neighborhoods with a unique interpretation of the Constitution.
“Some folks will say ‘you can’t draw the line. You can’t say this weapon is okay and that one not because that violates the 2nd Amendment.’ Because, you know, shall not be infringed,” sad Buttigieg.
Buttigieg actually used air quotes when he said “shall not be infringed” indicating he thinks that is not the case. In fact…
“And we gotta remember that is just not true,” Buttigieg added.
So the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed is not true? Please explain , Alfred E. Newman.
“And here’s how we know that’s not true: In America, it is already the case that anybody, as far as I know, can own a slingshot and nobody can have a nuclear weapon, right? If you think about it, it means we have already decided, as a society, consistent with the Constitution, within the boundaries of the Second Amendment, that there’s a line,” said Buttigieg.
Hang on, it gets worse:
“Everyone can have a water balloon, nobody can have a predator drone,” said Buttigieg.
Buttigieg followed this up by saying “we”, meaning he, have to ban “high-capacity magazines and anything that resembles an AR-15 or AK-47.” Presumably AR-15 zamples fall in this category.
There you have it, folks: A guy who would like to be the President of the United States believes the 2nd Amendment is about protecting slingshot and water balloon ownership, but not actual firearms. This almost makes the liberal lie that the 2nd Amendment is about hunting seem sane. Almost.
To take a page out of the liberal playbook, our Founding Fathers could have never imagined slingshots or water balloons since vulcanized rubber wasn’t invented until 1839, 50 years after they drafted the Bill of Rights. Firearms however existed and they included the 2nd Amendment to make sure a-holes like Pete Buttigieg couldn’t disarm the American people.
