Monday was Columbus Day or as liberals like to call it “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.” Columbus Day usually means parades and mattress sales while Indigenous People’s Day is celebrated by leftists going nuts, so it’s just like every other day. One of the rituals of IPD, like Festivus, is the airing of the grievances which means liberals compensating for their feelings of inadequacy by attacking innocent piece of public property. From coast to coast the lefties took their rage out on Christopher Columbus statues.
From East to West, Indigenous People’s Day was an orgy of statue hatred. In Providence Rhode Island a Columbus Statue was vandalized with red paint and graffiti, as reported by WJAR:
The Christopher Columbus statue in the Elmwood section of Providence was doused in blood red paint from head to toe Monday, on the holiday honoring him.
A sign saying “Stop Celebrating Genocide” was tied around the pedestal with a chain. The word “Genocide” was also spray-painted on the base.
In Baltimore, Maryland the lefties got weird with it as The Baltimore Sun points out:
Someone placed fake severed hands around the neck of a Christopher Columbus statue in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor neighborhood, bringing attention to the controversial explorer’s treatment of America’s indigenous population.
It was a clear move to bring attention to the way Columbus and his fellow sailors treated Native Americans when they landed on the continent in 1492.
Historians say that, after Columbus and his crew landed in what would become the Bahamas more than 500 years ago, the sailors kidnapped and enslaved the local population. Some who could not bring back a certain amount of gold had their hands cut off.
Sounds like a solid motivational technique to me.
News 4 sort of reported that a Columbus statue in San Antonio, Texas was vandalized, but couldn’t bring themselves to say what the nature of that vandalism was.
The story is about a private citizen who took it upon himself to clean up the vandalism since the city wouldn’t do it. As far as I can tell, someone spray painted “f*ck you” near the base of the statue, which is the extent of liberal wit.
In Chula Vista, California, near San Diego, vandals wasted their money on some barely visible red paint according to ABC 10:
A statue of Christopher Columbus standing at a Chula Vista park was vandalized on Columbus Day, police said.
According to Chula Vista police, at around 7:50 a.m. Monday, an officer was at Discovery Park on 700 Buena Vista Way and saw that the statue of the explorer was vandalized with red paint.
City crews spent the morning cleaning the paint off the statue.
And finally, in San Francisco, vandals went all out to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a call for mass killings, as reported by SFGate:
A statue of Christopher Columbus in San Francisco was vandalized the day before the federal holiday commemorating his arrival in the Americas in 1492.
On Sunday, city workers cleaned up the statue at the foot of Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill that had been covered in red paint. Graffiti on the base read “Destroy all monuments of genocide” and “Kill all colonizers.”
Leftist kooks call white Europeans “colonizers” so this graffiti is demanding the genocide of all white people in America. That would be a hate crime if it wasn’t directed at white people. It is however a nice touch of liberal logic in calling to fight genocide with genocide.
Mother Jones has declared Indigenous Peoples’ Day the wave of the future but there are a few issues with that. In order for a holiday to catch on, it has to be something fun people can universally celebrate. Whining about genocide and defacing public property seems like such a downer.
Meanwhile, employed people enjoyed the long weekend and some even got killer deals on mattresses.
