Thursday Morning Breakfast For The Brain

Good morning Deplorables! The day is off to a helluva good start thanks to Elijah Cummings.

The Sand Trap Of War

By Ben Garrison

Breaking: The House has overwhelmingly voted its bipartisan condemnation of President Donald Trump’s withdrawal of American forces from northern Syria. Democrats and Republicans banded together Wednesday and approved a nonbinding resolution by 354-60 vote.

The resolution states Congress’ opposition to the troop pullback and says Turkey should cease its military action in Syria. And the measure says the White House should present a plan for an “enduring defeat” of the Islamic State group.

Trump Stands Alone against War Inc.

The thing that struck me about the latest Democratic debates (aside from their usual and predictable bleat for bigger and more intrusive government, more abortion, more gun control, and more taxes) was their desire for more war!

I remember when the left was decidedly anti-war. Eugene McCarthy and Robert F. Kennedy both wanted to end the war in Vietnam.

How things have changed. The Democrat socialists now appear to have a blood lust for endless war. Perhaps their logic is on tilt due to their anti-Trump hatred, but what I heard was loud and definite war mongering! Repeatedly I heard statements along the lines of “Trump is undermining the honor of our soldiers and shattering our credibility!” This is something LBJ or Nixon might have said. (“We can’t abandon our South Vietnamese allies—we must end the war with honor!)

Last night I heard the candidates say Trump ‘sold out’ the Kurds. I have nothing against the Kurds, but they aren’t American citizens. Why must Americans die over ancient and on-going enmities a half world away? Why must be the world’s policeman and remain in perpetual war with no benefit for America? Shia vs. Shiites, vs. ISIS (whom Obama and McCain once supported) vs. Russia, vs. Syria vs. Turkey (who is supposed to be our ally) vs. The Kurds (also our ally) vs. Israel, vs. Iraq and Iran vs. Saudi Arabia vs. Yemen…on and on without end. And the war in Afghanistan drags on bloody year after bloody and expensive year. We have no business over there. Avoid foreign entanglements!

Beto O-Rourke said, “We’ll have to send another generation to fight battles there!” The same Beto who wants to grab our guns, loves war. WHY must we send more to die fighting wars that are not in our interest and do nothing to protect our own borders?

The Middle East has been embroiled in one kind of war or another for thousands of years. The US need not be in the middle of it and they don’t want us there as a referee. Let them fight it out among themselves. We don’t need their oil any more—we are energy independent.

These same war lovers gushed loud tributes to John McCain. Yes, the late war-mongering Senator. They all loved Senator “Bomb, Bomb, Bomb…Bomb, Bomb Iran! Mitt Romney is McCain’s replacement. He also loves war and condemned the president for trying to end one.

Trump did the right thing. He’s carrying out his campaign promise to end the useless wars in the sand. Unfortunately many of the soldiers are on their way to defend Saudi Arabia. We don’t need to defend barbaric kingdoms. Let them all pound sand on their own.

Bring ALL of our troops home!

John Bolton: Hero Of The Resistance Or Traitor?

Via Zero Hedge

Bolton is now looking like the mastermind behind the entire impeachment process. Marginalized within the Trump administration because Guiliani’s investigation was “a hand grenade who’s going to blow everybody up,” Bolton was reduced to running around through allies like Hill to find out how close Trump was to finding out just how dirty our hands are in Ukraine.

And how deep that rabbit hole goes.

Make no mistake, Bolton was placed in the White House to ensure continuity of policy in Ukraine on behalf of his PNAC allies and Israeli handlers on K Street. He clearly lost his mind when he realized Trump would find out the truth.

He also clearly lost his mind when Trump refused to go to war with Iran over a drone. All that work to maneuver Trump into a situation he couldn’t back out of, but then he does.

Nothing is more dangerous than an ideologue spurned.

And John Bolton is definitely an ideologue.

What’s sad about this farrago of futility is that by focusing on whether Trump can or cannot get impeached over this we’re missing the real story.

The president has staff who knowingly fed him bad information and contravened his edicts, clear acts of treason, on such a continual basis that he was forced to go outside the normal bureaucracy to get information leading directly to malfeasance within his government and that of his predecessor, Barack Obama.

By only trying to frame this as going after political opponents they are running the same script they ran on Richard Nixon. And the hypocrisy of it on the part of the Democrats and Neocons spurned by Trump is beyond comical.

The difference is is that, in this case, the corruption is already in plain sight thanks to Robert Mueller and his incompetent band of legal eagles.

The narrative that Trump is a Russian agent has already been destroyed.

Don’t you think a majority of the American electorate are confused as to why the people implicated in RussiaGate as having acted inappropriately haven’t been indicted?

And now those same people are telling us that Trump is the guilty one?

Moreover, the depth of Trump’s opposition is so pervasive that these same people will manipulate the court of public opinion to serve up a political impeachment for something that isn’t even a crime.

The media and the House Judiciary Committee are framing this as Bolton and Fiona Hill acting as patriots trying to stop a vindictive Trump from investigating a political opponent.

But we know that’s not the real story and no one outside of Gaslight Gulch will even give a crap. Rachel Maddow can smirk all she wants, Jeff Zucker can continue destroying what’s left of CNN’s ratings but it’s not a credible story no matter how you spin it.

What Bolton was keeping Trump from uncovering were all the connections in Ukraine which shaped not only the crimes regarding RussiaGate but also U.S. policy towards Ukraine going back to the beginning of Obama’s second term.

REPORT: LeBron James Pushed The NBA To Punish Houston Rockets GM Over Hong Kong Tweet

Via The Daily Wire

NBA superstar LeBron James may not have limited himself to odd public comments about the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, he may have actually pressured league commissioner Adam Silver to punish the Houston Rockets GM who tweeted his support for demonstrators over fears James and the NBA could lose Chinese business.

The Daily Caller and The Athletic report that James, concerned with his and the league’s bottom line, leaned Silver to punish Daryl Morey for his comments, claiming that NBA players would be fined or benched for decisions that had a financial cost.

“Nearly a week ago today, in a Shanghai hotel room, or Shanghai hotel ballroom, Adam Silver got up and addressed the players, and LeBron James is one of the players who got up and spoke and said, ‘Hey, what are we doing here? Daryl Morey made these statements,’” Dave McMenamin of ESPN noted, according to both outlets. “You know damn well if a player made the same statements and caused such poor ramifications for the league, there would be some sort of league recourse.”

“There would be repercussions the player has to pay. You know, potentially this tweet could cost the NBA hundreds of millions of dollars. That could come out of the players’ pockets, and so that’s the double standard that was being addressed in that meeting,” McMenamin added in his interview.

The Athletic adds that the comments were made October 9th, ahead of a pre-season game played in Shanghai.

James has insisted, several times since Morey’s tweet, that the Houston Rockets GM’s pro-democracy Tweet has a financial cost to both the league and its players — a concern he apparently resurfaced in the team’s Shanghai meeting with league officials.

Prof ties black female obesity to Trump policies, racism

Via Campus Reform

A New Jersey professor suggested on a TV program that racism and President Donald Trump’s policies are responsible for black female obesity.

Rutgers University women’s and gender studies professor Brittney Cooper made the argument during an appearance on “Black Women OWN the Conversation” on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

“I hate when people talk about Black women being obese,” Cooper said on the program. “I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn’t create.”

“We are living in the Trump era,” the professor said. “And look, those policies kill our people. You can’t get access to good health care, good insurance.”

Cooper said that research points to black women losing less weight and at a slower rate than do white women, claiming that public health practitioners tie increased stress to a change in metabolism.

“It’s literally that the racism that you’re experiencing and the struggle to make ends meet actually means the diet don’t [sic] work for you the same,” she adds.

RNC Raising Money To Help Democrats Televise Five Debates A Week

Via The Babylon Bee (Satire)

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Republican National Committee has launched an ambitious fundraiser to help the Democrats televise a debate every weeknight.

The move is expected to drum up significant support for the Republicans, not on their own merit but on the wackiness of the Dems.

“Look, it’s tough for us to raise money by just saying the same talking points we’ve been using for years,” said RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel. “Frankly, a lot of our policy positions are kind weird and not all that conservative. But if we can just let the Democrats talk for hours every night, we’re sure to win.”

The RNC is looking to raise over $100 million for the campaign strategy.

Proposed debate topics include The Evils of Capitalism: A Town Hall, When Should You Force Your Toddler To Change Genders?, The Merits of Men Beating Women In MMA, and A Bidding War on Taxes: How High Can We Go?

At publishing time, Republicans had raised enough money in the first hour of the fundraising campaign.
