Democrats have been suffering with a messaging problem concerning their sham impeachment inquiry against President Trump. First they said he was guilty of “quid pro quo” with Ukraine, but that’s not actually a crime. Then, they tested out “extortion,” but they can’t prove that happened so now they are on to accusing the President of “bribery.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced her party’s new rebrand for the coup attempt with an absolutely hilarious misunderstanding of the term bribery.
Wednesday’s public impeachment hearings were a disaster for the democrats mostly because their “star” witnesses had no first hand knowledge of anything and simply testified to their own personal opinions on things they heard from other people. It got worse because both admitted that they were unaware of any crime committed by President Trump.
To impeach a president, there must be a clearly defined crime and evidence that the law was broken. Democrats kind of forgot about that part when they hastily launched their impeachment inquiry against President Trump, so now they are scrambling to come up with a crime. Pelosi thinks she has something and relayed that to her propaganda army in the liberal media:
A reporter asked Pelosi what the actual crime is that democrats are alleging Trump committed and Pelosi gave one hell of a weird answer.
“It’s in the Constitution. You know, we talking Latin around here, E Pluribus Unum, from anyone. From anyone. Quid pro quo, bribery. Bribery and that is in the Constitution, attached to the impeachment proceedings,” said Pelosi.
Huh? Clearly Pelosi doesn’t know Latin very well. E Pluribus Unum means “out of many, one” and quid pro quo is not synonymous with bribery.
The reporter then asked, “What’s the bribe?”
“The bribe is to grant or withhold military assistance in return for a public statement of a fake investigation into the elections. That’s bribery,” replied Pelosi.
No, it’s really not. Trump is accused of withholding military aid to Ukraine until they investigated Joe Biden, his loser son Hunter, and the DNC’s rotten dealings in the 2016 election. The Ukraine got their money, they never investigated anything, and they didn’t even know there was a slight hold on the aid. That’s not bribery. That’s nothing.
Quid pro quo, which is Latin meaning “something for something” doesn’t even apply here because President Trump didn’t trade money for an investigations. Remember, Ukraine got the military aid and didn’t have to do anything special for it.
Extortion is even less applicable because that is the act of obtaining money through force or threats. Trump didn’t get any money form Ukraine, he gave it to them, and he certainly didn’t force or threaten them to take it.
After declaring President Trump guilty of bribery, which he is not, Pelosi pretended that she and the democrats haven’t made up their minds on his guilt yet.
“We haven’t even made a decision to impeach. That’s what the inquiry is about. And when the committees decide that, then they will decide what the articles are,” Pelosi said.
Followed immediately by another accusation of Trump’s guilt:
“But I am saying, that what the president has admitted to, and says it’s ‘perfect,’ I said it’s perfectly wrong. It’s bribery,” Pelosi stated.
This is obviously an impeachment in search of an impeachable offense and that’s why democrats have now settled on “bribery” as their buzzword. Pelosi even hinted at the reason by stating “it’s in the Constitution.”
Here’s Article II Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
As you can see, there are only 2 specific crimes mentioned: treason and bribery. Democrats know that can’t prove treason, but because this involves money they are throwing “bribery” against the wall to see if it sticks. It does not.
To prove what a terrible case they have, democrats have been investigating Trump for 2 months and they just came up with “bribery” this week. If they honestly believe Trump is guilty of bribery, why did they only figure it out now? And for that matter, why did they start the impeachment inquiry in the first place when they never had a crime to investigate?
