Speak oh toothless wonder…
Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell is the subject of much mirth, mockery, and controversy this morning after an MSNBC interview that went viral for all the wrong reasons.
During an appearance on “Hardball” with Chris Matthews, the Californian who has pushed for the confiscation of guns from law-abiding Americans and who sits on the House Intel Committee that is pushing impeachment was the subject of an embarrassing incident.
While fielding softballs from Matthews, Rep. Swalwell was just hitting his stride promoting the talking points on the Ukraine “bribery” hoax when this happened.

WHOOPS!
Swalwell nearly broke the internet after apparently breaking wind during this chat with the host which likely did not send a thrill up Matthews’ leg.
When it comes to gaffes and political slip-ups, this one is going to linger for Swalwell who had dropped off of the media’s radar after his disastrous 2020 presidential run which was short-lived.
Swalwell immediately denied that he had dropped an air biscuit on national television.

But there was no stopping Twitter which erupted:
Most intelligible thing to come out of Swalwell in years. #fartgate https://t.co/LT7MXAkIRB

Tonight is the most publicity I’ve ever seen @EricSwalwell get.
Take note, underdog presidential campaigns…

Did someone say whistleblower? https://t.co/cXB51DIVa8

Swalwell could have used the viral moment to raise awareness for something like colon cancer and could have encouraged people to donate to finding a cure
It would have earned him tons of positive press

So after @ericswalwell denied responsibility for the fart on MSNBC, we asked our audio expert to review the tape, he concluded that it’s definitely his and his alone, he even provided us with the audio waves. pic.twitter.com/YAKpW3Ifvm

Faux conservative SE Cupp has another theory – it wasn’t Swalwell at all but Matthews whose foul air is usually emitted from the other end.
THREAD: I hate to let the air out of these #fartgate theories, but the inimitable laws of physics clearly point to Chris as the culprit. For one, Swalwell’s mic wouldn’t likely have picked it up in the noisy liveshot location…
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) November 19, 2019
Finally, it was likely acoustically amplified after bouncing off the back of Matthews’ chair…

Unless you’re telling me that thing bounced through the echoey Capitol building, into Swalwell’s lav mic, through control to the main audio, then that is one magic fart. There is also, of course, the possibility that there was a second farter. #fartgate #fin

And what could MSNBC do but look to take advantage by blaming it all on a coffee mug – which can be purchased for a mere $16.95 at the MSNBC store?
Sorry to disappoint the conspiracy theorists – it was the #hardball mug scraping across the desk. Get yours today and let’s get back to the news! https://t.co/SG8Owm2IBw
