Not that anybody who has been paying attention should be surprised but the NFL player who was suspended over a thuggish helmet swinging attack has played the race card.
According to reports, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett who during last week’s nationally televised Thursday night game viciously attacked Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph with his own helmet is now claiming that the white devil made him do it.
The incident was as close to an actual criminal act ever seen on the field and it is inconceivable that had it taken place on the street and not in a stadium that the individual who swung the helmet in a malicious and dangerous manner would have been arrested.
Not sure how they let Garrett play again this season after this. Yanking Rudolph by the face mask until his helmet came off, then hitting him with his helmet in the head? pic.twitter.com/hfbqHt43uo

With a suspension for the rest of the season already under his belt and possibly more to come, it is now time for the last refuge of scoundrels.

Via TMZ Sports, “Myles Garrett Doubles Down On Rudolph Racial Slur Claim, ‘I Know What I Heard'”:
Myles Garrett told NFL officials Steelers QB Mason Rudolph hurled a racial slur at him before the infamous helmet attack … though Rudolph is calling BS.
As we previously reported, the Cleveland Browns star met with NFL officials to appeal the length of his suspension from the Nov. 14 incident.
During the meeting, Garrett told his side of the story … and claimed it was a racial slur from Rudolph that got him so pissed off, he ripped off the QB’s helmet and attacked him with it, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
But, Rudolph is VEHEMENTLY denying the claim — his lawyer has already issued a statement calling the allegation a flat-out lie.
“This false allegation was never asserted by Garrett in the aftermath of the game, never suggested prior to the hearing, and conspicuously absent in the apology published by the Browns and adopted by Garrett.”
“The malicious use of this wild and unfounded allegation is an assault on Mason’s integrity which is far worse than the physical assault witnessed on Thursday.”
“This is reckless and shameful.”
Far too often in these sick and shameful days of the “woke” culture and rising animosity toward white people it has been seen that bogus accusations of racism are used as an excuse for abominable behavior and from the minute that Garrett was hit with the suspension, you just knew that it was coming.
In the end, one has to wonder whether all of the hate hoaxes, false claims of racism and use of social media as an accelerant to spur racial tensions is going to backfire resulting in widespread distrust after decades of progress in race relations.
