Either 2019 was a slow year or the liberal media is trying to push an agenda. Insane global warming alarmist teenager Greta Thunberg was named Time’s Person of the Year, angry lesbian soccer player Megan Rapinoe was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year, and transgender pronoun “they” was named Webster’s dictionary Word of the Year.
Greta Thunberg became the global warming cult’s messiah after she sailed across the Atlantic to scream at people with this terrifying speech at the U.N.:

Time magazine felt Thunberg had contributed more to the world than anyone else and named her Person of the Year:
This is not fearmongering; this is science. For decades, researchers and activists have struggled to get world leaders to take the climate threat seriously. But this year, an unlikely teenager somehow got the world’s attention.
Thunberg began a global movement by skipping school: starting in August 2018, she spent her days camped out in front of the Swedish Parliament, holding a sign painted in black letters on a white background that read Skolstrejk för klimatet: “School Strike for Climate.” In the 16 months since, she has addressed heads of state at the U.N., met with the Pope, sparred with the President of the United States and inspired 4 million people to join the global climate strike on September 20, 2019, in what was the largest climate demonstration in human history. Her image has been celebrated in murals and Halloween costumes, and her name has been attached to everything from bike shares to beetles. Margaret Atwood compared her to Joan of Arc.
Nancy Pelosi was also in the running because she is trying to impeach President Trump on make-believe charges, but ultimately they went with Thunberg. Apparently meaningless gestures to deal with fictitious problems was the criteria this year.
Sports Illustrated named U.S. Women’s Soccer player Megan Rapinoe “Sportsperson” of the Year, not for her athletic ability, but rather for her Trump hatred:
Rapinoe and her teammates were busing to their training grounds in the western outskirts of Paris on June 26, in advance of a quarterfinal against France, when Donald Trump fired his Twitter salvo. A video, recorded earlier in the year, was making the rounds; in it Rapinoe declared, “I’m not going to the f—— White House” if the U.S. wins. And now POTUS was tweeting: “. . . Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!”
During her acceptance speech Rapinoe proceeded to rip Sports Illustrated for being sexist and racist:
“Is it truth that I’m only the fourth woman deserving of this award? I don’t think so. Is it true so few writers of color deserve to be featured in this publication? No. Is it true so few women’s voices deserve to be heard and deserve to be read in this publication? I don’t think so,” said Rapinoe.
Women’s soccer barely qualifies as a sport so this should have been a major triumph. The correct response is “thank you for this honor” but Rapinoe went a different way with it.
Finally, Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year is the transgender pronoun “they”:
Our Word of the Year for 2019 is they. It reflects a surprising fact: even a basic term—a personal pronoun—can rise to the top of our data. Although our lookups are often driven by events in the news, the dictionary is also a primary resource for information about language itself, and the shifting use of they has been the subject of increasing study and commentary in recent years. Lookups for they increased by 313% in 2019 over the previous year.
More recently, though, they has also been used to refer to one person whose gender identity is nonbinary, a sense that is increasingly common in published, edited text, as well as social media and in daily personal interactions between English speakers. There’s no doubt that its use is established in the English language, which is why it was added to the Merriam-Webster.com dictionary this past September.
Even in handing out accolades and superlatives, the liberal media manages to push its leftist fake news agenda. If this is the best 2019 had to offer it was the worst year on record.
