The sham impeachment just got shammier. Is that a word? It is now thanks to democrats. The House democrats, and only democrats, voted to impeach President Trump on two made-up charges that aren’t crimes or impeachable offenses. Making this clown show clownier (also a new word thanks to democrats) they may not even send the articles of impeachment to the Senate for a trial. They apparently think the Republican Senate won’t hold a fair trail so they’re going hold back the articles to deny Trump an overwhelming acquittal. In other words, the impeachment was BS from the beginning.
After hours of monotonous debate, the House eventually voted on two articles of impeachment against President Trump: one for abuse of power and a second for obstruction of Congress. both passed the democrat-controlled House on a strict party line vote, with one independent voting for and 5 democrats voting against or abstaining. Not one Republican voted for this sick farce.
As Fox News reports, the urgency to impeach President Trump is suddenly not so urgent:
But, late Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, floated the possibility that the House would not send the articles of impeachment to the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., likely would oversee a strong defense of the president that could prove politically damaging for vulnerable Democrats.
“We’ll make a decision… as we go along.” Pelosi told reporters, adding that “we’ll see what the process will be on the Senate side.”
“We have acted,” Pelosi continued, repeatedly refusing to commit to sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate. “Now, they’ll understand what their responsibilities are, and we’ll see what that is.”
When Bill Clinton was impeached in a bipartisan House vote in 1998, the articles were sent to the Senate within minutes. Pundits and democratic party insiders have suggested that the democrats may sit on these articles of impeachment for months or even forever.
They say that democrats are trying to hold back the articles to force Republicans in the Senate to give some concessions in the trial, but in reality they think they are punishing President Trump by denying him an acquittal.
Like all democrat plans, this is a stupid one. If the House democrats don’t send the articles of impeachment to the Senate, President Trump is going to say it’s because the impeachment case was so weak that even democrats don’t believe it. This is as much of a victory as a Senate acquittal. More so really, because refusing to submit the articles of impeachment shows the American public what a crock of shit the entire process was.
And the bad optics are huge with this. Democrats said they had to rush the impeachment process because President Trump is such a threat to democracy that he must be removed immediately. By not sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate, democrats are admitting that their sense of urgency was as big of a lie as everything else involved.
Democrats painted themselves into a corner with the impeachment business because the plowed ahead without evidence of an impeachable offense or a definable crime. Because they are stupid, they think they can get out of the corner by refusing to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate, but in reality its like dumping the whole bucket of paint over their heads.
