The Frightening Road To Leftist Utopia

The utopian Left believes human nature can be conquered; that they can annihilate the old Tao—and create a new one, based on their emotions.

Here’s a question to which I never hear a coherent answer: “What will the world look like when the Social Justice Left has won?”

I know what kind of world I want: a world of communities and individuals. Communities with different values. Individuals with different values, some of whom I can avoid because I don’t like their values—or whom I might befriend even though I don’t like their values. I want maximum personal liberty. Our respective values and beliefs make us different, and I want a world of difference. Otherwise, we have a world of eternal oppression.

What kind of world does the Left want, and how might that play out, in reality, when the Left has vanquished people like me?

Many leftists, “progressives,” and “modern liberals” are utopians—almost millenarianists. They believe society can be transformed, and mankind perfected, that human nature can be demolished and rebuilt—once people like them have sufficient power.

Utopianism always means more government, more top-down solutions, less individuality, less community. You’re told what you may say and think, what words you may not use, what behaviors you must approve, what scientific facts you must deny.

The road to Utopia never gets there. It’s an infinite road, full of marching prisoners—patrolled by snitches who report, and enforcers who punish any deviation.

Utopians talk of “loving acceptance of all people.” That’s the most intolerant concept imaginable. It means forcing people to suppress whatever private values they might have and adopt the “non-judgmental” values of their betters. Implicitly, it means letting others dictate what’s right or good—or letting them decree that such concepts are mere constructs.

The banner of inclusiveness and diversity bears the slogan, “Shut up.”

Democrats and the ‘Reeducation’ of the American People

Leftists love the concept of “reeducating” the public, the idea that we, the great unwashed, are too simpleminded to understand both complex issues of policy and what is best for ourselves in our own lives. (See this Bernie Sanders campaign employee advocating Gulags and reeducation camps for conservatives.) They have the answers, we’re just too stupid to allow them to impose those solutions. It’s the cornerstone of the progressive political philosophy – our moral and intellectual betters need to be empowered to shape our lives so they can make the world a better place. Hitler believed this, as did Stalin, Mao, and every other left-wing dictator who helped rack up 100 million dead human beings in pursuit of this Utopian ideal in the 20th century.

You’d think 100 million dead would give some people pause, but you’d be wrong. Modern progressives deflect the reality of their philosophical forefathers with answers like, “Stalin wasn’t a real communist, they should’ve followed Trotsky!” and “Hitler was a right-winger. Answers of this sort demonstrate an elementary school-level understanding of politics and history.

First, the idea that Stalin’s Russia wasn’t “real communism” ignores human nature and history. No totalitarian regime is about equality, be it under the banner of any progressive flag – communism, socialism, fascism, etc. The “leaders” always receive special treatment. The people waited in bread lines in the Soviet Union and starve in North Korea, yet their leaders: fat. Cuba has rundown, filthy hospitals with medical care just side of a good bleeding on the innovation front for the people, and the latest, greatest care available for those in power. So good was the care for the “more equal” leaders, Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez went there for his illness rather than seek it in the pit he’d created back home. Yet the average Cuban willingly jumps on a wooden door in the hope of not dying while trying to float 90 miles to Florida to escape what Michael Moore and Bernie Sanders praise.

2020 Women’s March Peters Out After Women Discover Trump’s Not Destroying Their Lives

Maybe the Women’s March is losing support because it has become more about a man than it is about women.

he Women’s March has an identity crisis. The march was inspired in 2017 out of fear that Donald Trump would in “Handmaid’s Tale” fashion strip women of all rights and dignity. After two years of a Trump presidency, and no such apocalypse, the Women’s March has lost much of its vigor.

Although attendees of the Washington D.C. march did not disappoint in the way of vulgar signs and various shades of pink hats, they did lack the numbers of 2017 and even 2018. One protester told me people are just tired and weary.

This year the march began with a short rally at Freedom Plaza. Rev. T. Sheri Dickerson, one of the march’s board members, started off the rally with the chant, “My body, my choice.” The marchers first made their way to Lafayette Park, then ended in front of the Trump Hotel.

Once at Lafayette Park, the marchers surrounded the White House, where they sang and danced to a Chilean feminist anthem called, “A Rapist in Your Path.” The song begins with, “The Patriarchy is our judge, that imprisons us at birth.” The chant goes on to say, “And the rapist is you, it’s the cops, it’s the judges, it’s the system, it’s the president…”

Few brought up women’s rights when asked why they’d attended the event. Many answered that they were there to fight for climate change and immigration. One young woman named Bianca from Raleigh, North Carolina pointed out that she was disappointed the organizers decided to make their platform so broad. She said she believed a women’s march should be about issues specific to women.

One thing that united the marchers was a vitriolic hatred of President Trump. When asked why they were attending the march, two women separately said “Because f-ck Trump.” According to the Women’s March on Washington Facebook page: “After three years of marching, three years of training, and three years of building political power, the Women’s March is launching into its fourth chapter with a fresh face, renewed energy to take on Trumpism…”

One of the most popular chants at the march was “Rise up,” with the response of “Remove Trump now.” Once in front of the White House, one group rolled out a large sheet bearing the words Article Two, Section Four, the part where the Constitution talks about impeachment. The crowd gathered around the sheet, read the words, then chanted in unison, “Remove Trump.”

Establishment Pundits Go Nuts Over New Russian Hacking Conspiracy

The New York Times reports that GRU operatives launched a successful “phishing attack” on the Ukrainian gas company at the heart of scandalous allegations about Joe Biden, and establishment pundits are falling all over themselves to tweet the hottest take on this exciting new Russia conspiracy.

The story itself fails the smell test on a number of fronts. It falsely claims that allegations of Biden’s corrupt dealings with Ukrainian officials as vice president have been “discredited,” and its only named source is a cybersecurity firm with foundational ties to the NSA and to Crowdstrike, which you may remember as the extremely shady Atlantic Council-tied company at the heart of the plot hole-riddled 2016 Russia hacking narrative (whose CEO is now a billionaire).

The article also lacks any hard evidence for its claims, and is of course completely silent on any details as to how the security firm knows that the alleged hackers were both (A) Russian and (B) tied to the Russian government. This is par for course with mass media news reporting on anything negative about Russia, where all journalistic standards have gone out the window and nobody suffers any professional consequences for even the most egregious misreporting on that nation.

And, naturally, liberal pundits are guzzling it down like Mike Pompeo left alone at the table with the gravy boat.

“I hope my fellow editors will think hard — really hard, a lot harder than they did in 2016 — before publishing any material hacked by the Russians,” tweeted editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast Noah Shachtman in response to the NYT report.

It is very revealing that the head of a major mainstream publication believes news outlets should sit on a story exposing the corruption of a leading presidential candidate–no matter how newsworthy – if it’s believed to have come from “the Russians.” How many major stories are being spiked for no other reason than a loyalty to the US government’s geopolitical agendas against noncompliant nations, exactly?

Yet sentiments identical to Shachtman’s are currently being bleated by like-minded pundits throughout the Twitterverse right now.

“Me and Oliver Darcy took at look at this a year ago… newsrooms hadn’t a lot to say about it. Not a lot of self-reflection, it seems,” tweeted CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan in response to Shachtman’s post. “Hackers could target the 2020 election. How will newsrooms respond if they release stolen data?”

There is at this time no legitimate reason to believe that the GRU was involved in any kind of cyberattack on Burisma, let alone that it found anything worth publishing. At the moment the only information we’ve gleaned from this incident is more insight into the fact that the news media environment of the most powerful nation on earth is deeply, profoundly unhealthy, and so are the individuals operating within it.

MSG In Chinese Food Isn’t Unhealthy — You’re Just Racist, Activists Say

It’s known as “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome,” or CRS.

The term was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 1993 and is defined as “a group of symptoms (such as numbness of the neck, arms, and back with headache, dizziness, and palpitations) that is held to affect susceptible persons eating food and especially Chinese food heavily seasoned with monosodium glutamate.”

But just like everything else in the world these days, some people are outraged with the term — even going so far as to say it’s racist.

Activists have launched a new campaign called “Redefine CRS,” CNN reported. “Headed by Japanese food and seasoning company Ajinomoto, the online campaign urges Merriam-Webster to change its entry to reflect the scientific consensus on MSG — and the impact of misinformation on the American public’s perception of Asian cuisine.”

This perception, which activists argue is outdated and racist, is so widespread that the Merriam-Webster dictionary has an entry for the term “Chinese restaurant syndrome” — a type of condition that allegedly affects people eating “Chinese food heavily seasoned with monosodium glutamate,” with symptoms like dizziness and palpitations.

“To this day, the myth around MSG is ingrained in America’s consciousness, with Asian food and culture still receiving unfair blame,” said the company in its campaign website. “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome isn’t just scientifically false — it’s xenophobic.”

Ajinomoto has released a video that features Asian American figures, along with restaurateurs and medical professionals, who decry the complaints against MSG.

“Calling it Chinese restaurant syndrome is really ignorant,” restaurateur Eddie Huang says in the video.

Senate Asks Pelosi If She Can Send Over Copy Of Impeachment Articles Without Wine Stains All Over It

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Mitch McConnell was happy to receive the impeachment articles today so that the Senate could get on with acquitting the president and we can all move on to something much more productive, like making Siri say funny things.

But McConnell was forced to ask the House to send over another copy of the articles after the one they received was covered with dark purple wine stains.

“Hey, Mrs. Speaker, sorry to bug you,” McConnell said, “but it looks like you’ve got some purple substance all over these articles of impeachment.”

“Don’t mess with me!” Pelosi snapped back. “I’m a Catholic. Wait — do Catholics drink wine?” When an aide informed her they do, she realized the jig was up and sheepishly agreed to transmit fresh articles of impeachment.

An embarrassed Pelosi came over to pick up the old ones and deliver a fresh copy. She smelled the stains and confirmed they were a “delicious 1982 vintage — very good year.” A concerned aide tugged the paper out of her hand as she began to nibble at the corner.

Unfortunately, the new copy was covered in bourbon.
