Coronavirus Becomes Latest Excuse for Mass Hysteria

We go from hysteria to hysteria.

And even that’s not quite accurate. We now endure multiple hysterias at once.

The latest, of course, is COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus. In addition to China, where the virus originated, major cities in Italy and Japan are in lockdown mode, and Japan has closed all its schools.

In the United States, where, as of this writing, six people–most, if not all, of whom were already ill—have died as of Monday, the states of Washington (where all six deaths occurred) and Florida and the city of San Francisco have declared states of emergency.

Many international and domestic business conferences have been canceled, including:

—The Google News Initiative Summit in late April in Sunnyvale, California.

—The Microsoft MVP Global Summit March 15-20 in Bellevue and Redmond, Washington (now to be an online-only event).

—The Facebook Global Marketing Summit, March 9-12 in San Francisco.

—The Mobile World Congress Barcelona, billed as “the largest mobile event in the world.”

Amazon has asked its 798,000 employees to stop all nonessential travel, both domestic and international, immediately.

Meanwhile, according to Time magazine, “U.S. stocks lost nearly 12% and $3.5 trillion was erased for U.S.-listed stocks. It was the worst week for stocks since the financial crisis in October of 2008.”

And the “yield on the 10-year Treasury note hit a record intraday low [last] Tuesday as coronavirus rocked risk markets and investors flooded into safe-havens,” according to Markets Insider.

If these trends continue, the world economy is likely to enter a recession, if not a depression.

Unless the coronavirus becomes a worldwide mass killer, it will be fair to say that the hysteria over coronavirus will cause much more suffering than the virus.

DNC Wants Bernie Defeated This Month, Well Ahead of Milwaukee Convention…

A couple of recent data points highlights a purposeful plan where the DNC Club wants Bernie Sanders crushed this month, well ahead of the Milwaukee DNC convention.

Last night the New York Times posted a blistering expose’ on Bernie, complete with journalists traveling to the former Soviet Union city of Yaroslavl Russia, to dig up opposition research they could deploy framing Senator Sanders as a comrade to Russian interests. The Times research team presented an 89-page “Bernie Dossier” of sorts.

Interestingly, Comrade Sanders was a presidential candidate in 2016 competing against Hillary Clinton; but the New York Times didn’t feel the need to track down the records during that campaign?… But they did in 2020?…

The most simple explanation for the lack of curiosity in 2016, and the decision to take the deeper, targeted dive in 2020, relates to the prior race holding a pre-determined outcome. However, this year, Bernie Sanders was/is considered an actual and viable threat to the interests of the Club itself.

Based on the abject scale of the media rallying around Joe Biden; and based on a very familiar lack of curiosity by those same media when Biden seemingly disappears from all visibility (like today); and based on the transparently visible assembly of all allied club forces against Bernie Sanders, well, the intents, motives and purposes are quite clear.

The Club wants Bernie eliminated with extreme prejudice and they want it done now; much sooner than could organically be accomplished. The end goal as it currently appears is total capitulation by the Sanders campaign quickly; and all forces are being brought down upon the candidate to achieve that goal.

In many ways it makes sense for the Club to attempt this now as they will need the maximum amount of time available to heal wounds and herd the unwieldy Bernie coalition into the tent of Joe Biden. Capturing and controlling Sanders’ grassroots enthusiasm the Club needs to achieve their November objective is a very challenging task; and a DNC Convention battle against progressives is the worst case scenario. It simply cannot be allowed.

Are you suffering from Elizabeth Warren Denial Syndrome?

Elizabeth Warren did not die in a tragic accident yesterday. But judging by the reactions of America’s journalists and academics, you would be forgiven for thinking she had. Instead, she suspended her presidential campaign after a string of self-inflicted, humiliating failures. Yet huge swathes of the overeducated US intelligentsia responded the news as though their entire worldview had been shattered. I don’t see much of a difference in the reactions of Warren’s elite opinion-maker supporters to her campaign suspension and the way Kobe Bryant’s death in a helicopter crash was processed by NBA fans: raw trauma and disbelief, with some anger and desperation mixed in.

Warren’s portrait at the Harvard Law School faculty building was adorned with despondent remembrances in the form of colorful Post-It notes. Her staff spent the day tweeting elaborately emotional confessional threads about how deeply distraught they were by the end of the campaign, and how deeply offended they were that such an accomplished woman had been denied the presidency — again. (Lots of Hillary holdovers in this crowd.) Many of these staffers had titles like ‘National Latinx Engagement Director’. Surrogates representing the Warren-supporting constituency of ‘Black Womxn’ were also shell-shocked. Evidently, their strategy of appealing to working-class minority voters by replacing vowels with the letter ‘x’ did not work so well. Perhaps in the campaign postmortem they can commission a survey asking how many black women in the United States use the term ‘womxn’.

Rachel Maddow, having secured an exclusive post-dropout interview with Warren from her home in Cambridge, reported further tales of widespread angst. While at least displaying the modicum of self-awareness necessary to acknowledge that she, Rachel, is in Warren’s demographic sweet spot — white woman over 40 from New England with an advanced degree — she nonetheless relayed harrowing stories of female friends and colleagues who were absolutely ‘bereft’ all day yesterday and ‘can’t get off the couch’.

Soros Spends Big to Help Prosecutor Who Dropped Jussie Smollett Charges

George Soros and other liberal billionaires are pushing large sums of cash into Chicago to back the far-left prosecutor whose office dropped charges against Jussie Smollett, the actor who staged a “hate crime” he attributed to Trump supporters.

The reelection efforts of Kim Foxx, state’s attorney for Cook County, Ill., received a boost from the Illinois Justice & Public Safety PAC. The committee, founded to support Foxx, has spent six figures on media productions and direct mail backing Foxx’s candidacy, state records show, making it Foxx’s largest backer so far. The PAC received its entire $2 million budget from a group created and funded by Soros.

Soros has for years poured millions into district attorney and prosecutor races across the country backing candidates who want to radically overhaul the criminal justice system. The candidates often campaign on reducing incarceration rates by bringing lower-level charges for higher-level offenses. One such Soros-backed district attorney, Larry Krasner of Philadelphia, purged dozens of prosecutors primarily from the homicide division, drug enforcement, and civil asset forfeiture units within days of taking office.

Foxx, who received $408,000 from Soros during her first election in 2016, set off widespread criticism for her office’s handling of the Smollett case. The actor claimed he was attacked by two white masked individuals in the streets of Chicago who yelled “This is MAGA country,” tied a rope around his neck, and doused him in bleach. The story quickly unraveled after evidence emerged that Smollett hired two men to fake the attack. Foxx’s office dropped the charges against him. Following a special prosecutor’s probe into Foxx’s handling of the Smollett case, a grand jury indicted Smollett on six counts of disorderly conduct in relation to making false reports to the Chicago Police Department.

Soros has renewed his support for Foxx in the wake of the Smollett controversy. On Feb. 19, the Democracy PAC, a federal super PAC Soros created for the 2020 elections, deposited $2 million into the coffers of the Illinois Justice & Public Safety PAC. That contribution is the pro-Foxx PAC’s sole source of funding. Soros put $5.1 million into the Democracy PAC in the first half of 2019.

Other deep-pocketed liberal donors and progressive groups have cut hefty checks to keep Foxx in office.

Group Stomps 15-Year-Old Girl On Brooklyn Sidewalk

Police are searching for a group of suspects accused in a violent gang assault and robbery of a 15-year-old girl in Brooklyn.

Investigators believe this was a retaliation attack for another incident that took place earlier. Police have not said what the earlier incident was about.

The brutal assault was caught on camera shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday on Utica Avenue near Sterling Place in Crown Heights.

Suspects in the crowd take turns stomping on her, kicking her, taking her sneakers, phone and debit card.

“For so many kids to jump on one individual, it’s just ridiculous,” said Carlita Gorden, who works at a nearby salon and came to the scene when she heard screaming.

“Her book bag, she was grabbing on her book bag. No shoes, just sitting on the floor with no shoes,” Gorden added. “Then you see the little one holding her sneakers, running away. Come one, it’s sad. We have to do better as a community. We have to do better as people in general. That this little girl could’ve lost her life, it’s really sad.”

Shell Oil Will Change Its Name To ‘She’ll’ For International Women’s Day

Shell Oil Co. is temporarily changing its name to “She’ll” on International Women’s Day at a specific California gas station CS News reported.

The name change will include a logo change with the addition of an apostrophe at a gas station in San Dimas, Calif., where the executive leadership team includes a duo of female entrepreneurs, according to CS News. The team is also the largest distributor of Shell-branded oil in California

“She Will” is Shell’s latest initiative, although the company has been committed to improving the representation of women on their board of directors for several years and has seen an increase from 8% to 33%, according to CStore Decisions.
