I Watched The Hunt So You Don’t Have To (But You Should)

I’m sure all of you are familiar with the film The Hunt, considering the controversy. The movie was supposed to come out last year but negative buzz about it glorifying the killing of Trump supporters pulled it off the slate. The studio got bold and was going to release it recently but the coronavirus pandemic hit and so it got sent straight to streaming. I was prepared to hate this movie, but truth be told, it ain’t that bad.

Universal Studios was all set to release The Hunt last September until people realized it was a film about hunting and killing “deplorables.” The studio claimed it was putting the film on ice because of a slew of real-life mass shootings, but they really canned it because it was perceived as being insulting to Trump supporters, conservatives, and just about half the country.

Figuring the controversy had passed, the studio was set to release the film in theaters in March, but the coronavirus came along and squashed that idea, Instead they put it straight to streaming, guaranteeing it will never make a dime. I myself was able to watch it for free, but I chose not to reveal how.

In any case, the movie is indeed about a group of rich liberal elites who kidnap and hunt a some conservative America-loving Trump supporter types. The film opens up with the liberals calling Trump (though not by name) the “rat-f*cker-in-chief” and his supporters “deplorables.”

You may be thinking: why in the hell would I want to watch a movie that is a liberal’s wet dream of killing right-wingers. Well, here’s the thing, the liberal are in fact the bad guys and the conservatives are the heroes. Not only that, the liberals are presented in a hilariously unflattering way. They spend the whole movie bitching about global warming, abortion, and white privilege. In other words, it’s an accurate portrayal of the left.

I’m not going to give any spoilers here, but if you ever seen a movie in your life, you know the good guys generally win and the bad guys generally lose. It’s a film about some sissy bitch liberals getting what’s coming to them and that’s entertaining all day long.

On top of which, the main protagonist, played by Betty Gilpin, is cunning smart and kicks ass. The main antagonist is not only a pathetic liberal scum, she’s played by Hillary Swank who I already hate as a pathetic liberal scum in real life. It was easy to buy into this story.

I would also say, that the violence is quite satisfying, which is something you definitely want out of an action film. There’s some plot holes and things that don’t make a lot of sense, but ultimately it’s an enjoyable watch.

I actually had no interest in seeing this film, but a got a recommendation form someone whose opinion I trust and I’m glad a listened. My hang-up was that I didn’t want to see liberal hate porn, but that’s not even close to what this movie is about.

My guess is that if this film had actually been released in the theater, it would have been liberals flipping out and crying foul. They would have complained that it portrayed them too accurately and promoted violence against them.

If you’re cooped up in the house because of the coronavirus and want to kill a couple of hours watching shitty liberal elites get killed in fun and bloody ways, give The Hunt a chance.
