From the second Trump said the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine showed promise in treating patients with coronavirus, the liberal media and democrats have been using it to attack the President. They’ve ignored international studies showing the effectiveness of the drug, they tried to blame the death of a man who drank fish tank cleaner on the President, and now they are saying a doctor was fired for opposing Trump’s hope in the drug. Like everything else, this is more fake news.
The New York Times sounded the alarm:
A doctor who led a U.S. agency helping to develop a coronavirus vaccine says he was removed because he questioned the promotion of hydroxychloroquine, a drug endorsed by President Trump without rigorous vetting.
The doctor in question is Rick Bright who was the director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and as the deputy assistant secretary for preparedness and response.
“Specifically, and contrary to misguided directives, I limited the broad use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, promoted by the administration as a panacea, but which clearly lack scientific merit,” said Dr. Bright.
Are you outraged yet? Obviously this doctor, who is working to save our lives, was fired for political reasons because President Trump is a petty egomaniac. Well about that, there’s several reasons that this story isn’t quite what the NYT wants you to think it is.
First, Dr. Bright wasn’t fired, he was reassigned to a different position with the National Institutes of Health. he still has a job.
And he wasn’t reassigned for questioning President Trump, he was moved because he’s a dick:
The move was more than a year in the making – Bright had clashed with department leaders about his decisions and the scope of his authority.
And he didn’t even oppose President Trump’s touting of hydroxychloroquine:
“I insisted that these drugs be provided only to hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 while under the supervision of a physician,” Bright said.
Gee, that’s exactly what President Trump, Dr, Fauci, Dr. Birx, the CDC, and the FDA have been saying all along. Being opposed to something means being against it.
Finally, there is this curious little fact that makes Dr. Bright seem like he’s as full of shit as the NYT:
Dr. Bright has hired the lawyers Debra Katz and Lisa Banks, who have a whistle-blower practice and are known in part for representing Christine Blasey Ford, who during the nomination process of Justice Bret Kavanaugh, accused him of engaging in sexual sexual misconduct decades earlier, a claim he denied.
To recap: this guy has been a pain in the ass and was resigned to another position, a move completely unrelated to his opposition to hydroxychloroquine, a drug he isn’t even against in treating coronavirus and he hired lawyers that tried to ruin a honest man’s life with a bullshit accusation of sexual assault.
Given that all of these details are contained within the NYT article, it begs the question why the headline didn’t read: Doctor Is Still Employed Despite Being An Asshole.
The answer to that question is, the truth of the story doesn’t make President Trump look bad. In the Age of Trump, all liberal media stories must attack the President no matter how unrelated it may be.
The problem is the fake news industry is going to run out of stuff they can falsely blame on the President so they’re going to have dig into history to slander Trump:
Trump’s Assistant Community Outreach Director Met With Russian Cab Driver Just Prior To Chernobyl Meltdown
Trump Cut Iceberg Taskforce Which Could Have Saved The Titanic
Dinosaurs Went Extinct Because Trump Thinks Asteroid Strikes Are A Chinese Hoax
I swear that if the liberal media steals any of my joke headlines, I’ll hire those Christine Blasey Ford lawyers and sue the shit out of them.
