BLM Update: Black Security Guard Kills Black Man For Not Wearing A Mask

Black Lives Matter is still working out the kinks of their messaging as yet another example of senseless black-on-black crime is ignored by the national media. In Gardena, California a black man was shot and killed by a black security guard for not wearing a mask in the grocery store. Luckily for the residents of Southern California the security guard wasn’t white so there no outrage and zero chance of more “peaceful” rioting.

CBS LA reports that 50-year-old Jerry Lewis, not that one, was waiting for a tow truck in the parking lot of a Gardena, CA grocery store on Sunday. He tried to enter the store without wearing a mask when security guard Umeir Hawkins denied him entry. The two men got into a verbal confrontation before Lewis walked away.

Some time later Lewis returned to yell at Hawkins some more and that’s when things turned physical. Hawkins wife, Sabrina Carter, was waiting in a car for her husband to get off work when she saw the fight break out. She rushed over and pointed a handgun at Lewis as well as several customers.

At that point, Lewis simply walked away from the fight. As he was headed back to his car, Hawkins produced a second handgun and shot Lewis in the back. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

As if this cowardly act of shooting a man in the back for not wearing a mask wasn’t bad enough, both security guard Hawkins and his wife Carter (why don’t they have the same last name?) are both convicted felons, barred from possessing firearms. They were both convicted of an assault by force likely to commit great bodily harm according to LA County DA Jackie Lacey.

Lewis was a marginally famous rapper who went by the name Madd Head. He had a song on the Beavis and Butthead Do America soundtrack called “Pimp’n Ain’t Ez.” Interestingly enough, I have that soundtrack and that particular song is terrible. It’s not worth killing the guy over, but it’s not good.

Lewis left behind 6 children including Jerica Hill who said, “It shouldn’t happen this way. My dad is not that type of person. He has a good heart.”

Hawkins was charged with murder while both he and his wife Carter were hit with felons in possession of firearms charges. Hawkins faces 50 years in prison if convicted but this is California so he’s probably looking at a suspended sentence with 100 hours of community service he wan’t have to do.

Let’s assume Hawkins aimed with his good eye.

There is no outrage that a black man was shot in the back for not wearing a mask. Nobody is accusing the grocery store of racism for hiring a convicted felon armed security guard. There are no protests demanding that security companies be dismantled. Not one single statue has been pulled down in Lewis’ memory. Guilty white liberals aren’t checking their privilege over this. No TV shows have been cancelled and no movies have been pulled from streaming services.

One thing that will happen as a result of this black-on-black murder is that LA County will almost certainly count it as a coronavirus death and use it to justify a return to lockdown status.
