In an effort to prepare its graduates for lucrative careers in the racial grievance industry, the University of Pittsburgh is forcing students to take an anti-racism class. Well, that’s not entirely true, it’s actually an anti-black racism class so presumably anti-white/Asian/Hispanic/Indian racism are all still acceptable on campus. It’s just a matter of time before the university offers a degree program in race hustling.
TribLIVE reports on the latest embarrassment of higher education:
The University of Pittsburgh will now require first-year students to complete a new course on anti-Black racism.
In a letter to students sent Wednesday, which also clarified updated covid-19 procedures, Provost Ann E. Cudd said the course, which will be free of charge and count for one academic credit, is part of the institution’s pursuit to create an anti-racist university. The course is called Anti-Black Racism: History Ideology and Resistance.
The course will be scheduled for one hour per week and graded on a satisfactory/no-credit basis. All first-year students will be automatically enrolled for the fall term.
It may be forced but at least it’s free. I don’t know if that’s necessarily a positive thing as free forced amateur colonoscopies wouldn’t be immensely popular.
Here’s a fair question: what happens if a black student fails this class? Is that a hate crime? Even better: is this something that only non-black students have to take? There is no information on this.
“This summer we have also spent considerable time reckoning with societal injustice in the form of police brutality and systemic anti-Black racism throughout society. We have heard from our Black students, as well as Black faculty and staff, that our campus is not the safe, inclusive, and equitable place for all that we are committed to creating,” wrote Provost Cudd.
By forcing white students to take this stupid class and creating racial resentment when’re it never existed before will make the campus a safer more inclusive place?
A variety of student racial grievance groups put together a list of demands for the university including free tuition for black students and defunding the campus police. Instead, Pitt created this dumbass class they are forcing students to take.
One of those racial grievance groups, Black Action Society, seems fine with the compromise. BAS president Morgan Ottley, a senior, loves the Orwellian nature of the class:
“It’s forcing you to rethink your own habits and your own behavior, the things you’ve come to view as normal,” said Ottley.
Interesting choice of words. Nothing says “freewill” like forcing people to think and behave differently.
And just in case you think that this isn’t a social engineering program, here’s Provost Cudd saying the quiet part out loud:
“The course is designed to inform us all about Black history and culture, about the multiple forms of anti-Black racism, and about how we can be anti-racist. This course is a deposit on our commitment to transform our institution and our society, beginning with education and focusing our future through the special class of 2024,” said Cudd.
