Sure, Abraham Lincoln emancipated the slaves, but what has he done for the black community lately? An elementary school bearing his name in San Francisco is getting renamed because apparently black lives didn’t matter enough to Lincoln. It doesn’t even matter that he took a bullet to the skull for his support of black lives, San Francisco says he’s gotta go.
Here’s an absurd thing from The Daily Mail:
A San Francisco district is planning to rename a school named after Abraham Lincoln because the former president did not demonstrate that ‘black lives mattered to him’.
The president, who is often held up as an American hero for abolishing slavery, is just one of 44 historical figures soon to have their names scratched off schools within the San Francisco Unified School District.
Other names include George Washington, Herbert Hoover and Senator Dianne Feinstein, whose name will be stripped from the Dianne Feinstein Elementary School for allowing the Confederate flag to fly outside City Hall back in 1984 when she was mayor.
That’s like the least terrible thing Dianne Feinstein has ever done. Rename the school because she doesn’t respect our Constitutional rights or because she’s a traitor to this country.
According to SFGate, the San Francisco school district is planning on purging dozens of school names because of perceived racism:
George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and even Sen. Dianne Feinstein have been deemed too problematic to be featured in the names of schools in the San Francisco Unified School District by a panel of 12 community members appointed by the superintendent.
Three weeks ago, the panel found that 44 of the 125 schools in the district might have to change their names after their review…panel members sought to rename schools currently featuring the names of, “anyone directly involved in the colonization of people, slave owners or participants in enslavement, perpetrators of genocide or slavery, those who exploit workers/people, those who directly oppressed or abused women, children, queer or transgender people, those connected to any human rights or environmental abuse [and] those who are known racists and/or white supremacists and/or espoused racist beliefs.”
It’s clear how Dianne Feinstein falls in this group, but Honest Abe?
In addition to not being much of a friend to the black community, this panel has also determined that Abraham Lincoln didn’t respect Indians enough:
Schools named after former presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are on the list due to the two presidents’ slave-owning status, and a school named after Abraham Lincoln is on the list because of his treatment of Native Americans.
How much do you want to bet that they renamed Abraham Lincoln Elementary after Elizabeth Warren?
And because this is San Francisco, the stupidity took a turn for the weird:
Also on the list is El Dorado Elementary School, because panel members took issue with the concept of El Dorado.
“The concept of El Dorado, especially in California, had a lot to do with the search of gold, and for the indigenous people that meant the death of them,” panel member Mary Travis Allen said during a September meeting. “I don’t think the concept of greed and lust for gold is a concept we want our children to be given.”
Judging by the criteria, this board has made it so the schools can’t be renamed anything, because everything is offensive. They can’t use numbers to designate schools like “Elementary School #3” either because everyone knows math is racist. They can’t even just point at a particular school because that’s an aggressive gesture the white patriarchy uses to oppress minorities.
Actually, I think the smart money is on them renaming the schools after liberal heroes like cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal or Indian terrorist Leonard Peltier who murdered 2 FBI agents. Also, trannies are going to get some love so expect Ru Paul Intermediate School to become a thing.
