Last week when Twitter permanently suspended President Trump’s account, I noted that the Def-Con News account lost nearly 1,000 followers in a matter of hours. There is now apparently an explanation for this: Twitter is suspending thousands of conservative accounts. Facebook too, is purging conservative content to save the country from free speech and a differing opinions in the marketplace of ideas.
The NY Post reports on Twitter’s continued assault on conservatives:
Twitter said on Monday night it has permanently suspended over 70,000 accounts that were mainly in operation to share QAnon content.
The social media giant said enforcement of the accounts began Friday — one of several safety measures the company has implemented in the wake of the deadly Capitol riot.
The company said it also increased enforcement against posts sharing false information about the 2020 election now the Congress has certified President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
“These accounts were engaged in sharing harmful QAnon-associated content at scale and were primarily dedicated to the propagation of this conspiracy theory across the service,” said Twitter in a statement.
I don’t know much about QAnon other than they believe that a group of pedophiles secretly runs the world or something like that. Don’t Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Clinton, and Chief Justice John Roberts kind lend some validity to that particular conspiracy theory? There’s a lot of crazy shit that liberals believe in that has much less evidence behind it than that.
Meanwhile over in Facebookland, conservatives are not allowed to share any information that questions the stolen 2020 election. Here’s a statement from the ironically-named Facebook Integrity VP, Guy Rosen:
We began preparing for Inauguration Day last year. But our planning took on new urgency after last week’s violence in Washington, D.C., and we are treating the next two weeks as a major civic event. We’re taking additional steps and using the same teams and technologies we used during the general election to stop misinformation and content that could incite further violence during these next few weeks.
We are now removing content containing the phrase “stop the steal” under our Coordinating Harm policy from Facebook and Instagram. We removed the original Stop the Steal group in November and have continued to remove Pages, groups and events that violate any of our policies, including calls for violence.
But with continued attempts to organize events against the outcome of the US presidential election that can lead to violence, and use of the term by those involved in Wednesday’s violence in DC, we’re taking this additional step in the lead up to the inauguration. It may take some time to scale up our enforcement of this new step but we have already removed a significant number of posts.
Facebook has also, by the way, indefinitely suspended President Trump from its platform.
Antifa and Black Lives Matter accounts and content are still acceptable on the social media platforms however, because Twitter and Facebook can’t find a link between the violent leftist rhetoric of those groups and the violence they have been committing in cities across the country for the past year or so.
Accounts linked to the Chinese Communist Party promoting disinformation about the deadly plague they unleashed on the world is also allowed as well as the hateful violent rhetoric of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It’s not a coincidence that all leftist hate speech is allowed while conservative opinions based on provable facts is being banned. Social media is part of the democratic party’s propaganda machine. Anything democrats don’t want people to hear is the same thing big tech is suppressing.
Although big tech has, at least, temporarily banned Twitter alternative Parler, there are still some viable social media options for conservatives.
Def-Con News has an account on USA Life, which is a good alternative to Facebook. You should check us out and I guarantee that we will accept your friend request.
We also have an account on Gab, which is another conservative alternative to Twitter. We don’t do much on Gab, but maybe this social media conservative purge will inspire us to follow more people and post more content.
