Is this part of the The Purge on conservatives in the wake of the hostile Biden takeover? Yeah, probably. An advertiser we’ve been using for years suddenly deactivated our account today because we apparently promote subversive content. Where have they been for the past 2 and half years? We’ve always been subversive.
Def-Con News has been using an advertiser called Commission Junction to place ads on the website since our formation in 2018. We never had any problems until today when I got an email message from them saying they were deactivating our account. I can’t copy and paste that message to share with you because it came with a disclaimer saying that I’m not allowed to reproduce or distribute the content of the email under the threat of litigation.
It basically accused Def-Con News of promoting subversive, hateful, illegal, libelous, and false information. There was also some stuff in there about us being bigoted and promoting violence.
Like I said, Def-Con News is the same as we’ve ever been, so what changed? At least once a month I write that Michelle Obama is really a man and I’ve done that since the beginning. My guess is that the standards for what the left is willing to allow have changed. Since the Capitol protests, conservative opinions are now considered sedition and open for cancellation.
The weird thing about this is 30 minutes after getting canceled by Commission Junction, I received another e-mail from them. I can share this one because it didn’t come with a threat sue my ass into oblivion:

Apparently all of the exciting we’ll be doing involve hatred and overthrowing the government.
So what gives? Are we canceled or what? We are in fact cancelled. This is what I get when I try to log into my account that I’ve had since the fall of 2018:

This is actually not a big deal because the Commission Junction ad we ran didn’t actually generate any income. We only had one ad and I kept it around for aesthetic reasons. You may remember the ad for the Star Wars toys at the top of our main page. That was it and now it’s gone.
Commission Junctions ads dont work the way tradition web advertising does. You don’t get paid for views and clicks, instead a person would have to click on the advertiser and then actually buy something. Of the millions of visitors we’ve had, not one person ever felt the need to buy a Jar-Jar Binks action figure. That’s on you people.
This is not a loss by any stretch of the imagination but it does show the extent of The Purge in cancelling conservative opinions.
