What is so difficult about the First Amendment for Democrats to understand? Or about the Second Amendment? Or the entire Bill of Rights? Or the Constitution for that matter?
As pointed out by law scholar Alan Dershowitz on Newsmax, the House impeachment managers are effectively making the case for the defense because President Trump’s words are protected under the constitution.
House Democrats are emphasizing that President Trump had long argued the election was stolen, and then they go on to show how the president challenged the election results “by all lawful means and all political means,” Dershowitz said.
Instead of tying the lone article of impeachment — incitement of insurrection — solely on Trump’s Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally speech, which was delivered at a rally just before the Capitol siege, House Democrat impeachment managers are making a case that he’d long objected to a stolen election as a predicate to inciting the storming of the U.S. Capitol Building.
“Very good theater, terrible constitutional law,” Dershowitz said of the House Democrats’ opening statements Wednesday. “But they prove President Trump’s constitutional defense.”
“The Constitution protects a person that says the Earth is flat as much as a person who says it’s round,” Dershowitz said. “The Constitution protects a Holocaust denier as much as it does a historian who can prove that 6 million Jews were killed.
“And the Constitution, the First Amendment, protects a president who’s wrong about the election as much as a president who’s right.”
“Matters of opinion cannot be disputed or taken outside of constitutional protections,” Dershowitz said. “So I think the House managers were actually helping the Trump defense by trying to prove that what he said was false.”
The Democrats are determined to vanquish President Trump at all costs. One crazy Democrat started-up the Never-Trump train and the rest of the party climbed aboard like lemmings being lead to slaughter. Nancy Pelosi is hell bent on revenge. But remember what Confucius said, “If it’s revenge you seek, you should dig two graves, one for yourself.” Meaning that such evil will surely bring about your own demise as well. Dershowitz did suggest that Democrats’ gaffe might be part of a plan to “lay a trap” for Trump defense lawyers — getting them to argue the validity of a stolen-election claim, which could derail the president’s case.
“That would be a serious mistake, because it would lose a number of senators who are now on their side,” Dershowitz concluded.
What say you Def-Con News readers? I believe the Democrats, and some Republicans too, have much to hide and they see President Trump as a threat. They see that if Trump is allowed to remain a viable force, he will also remain a credible force. And when he releases the material he is holding, the public at large will demand action. This will bring about the end of many Democrat and RINO careers and likely the freedom for many too.
But what those who have wrong doings and illegalities to hide don’t understand is that the Trump Train has already left the station and it has a full head of steam.
