Graham said, “I thought the impeachment trial was not only unconstitutional, I condemn what happened on January 6th, but the process they used to impeach this president was an affront to rule of law.”
He added, “We’ve opened Pandora’s Box to future presidents. And if you use this model, I don’t know how Kamala Harris doesn’t get impeached if the Republicans take over the House. Because she actually bailed out rioters, and one of the rioters went back to the streets and broke somebody’s head open. So we’ve opened Pandora’s Box here, and I’m sad for the country.”
Well, so much for the dramatics of the day. As significant as this threat of retaliation may be, I believe impeaching Harris was not even the most important element to come out of this interview conducted by Mr. Gotcha, Chris Wallace.
Of greatest importance was what Senator Graham said about President Trump in response to Wallace’s loaded questions.
First, concerning the events at the Capital on January 6th, Senator Graham called for a “911 Commission to find out what happened and to make sure it never happens again.”
I strongly agree with Senator Graham, but have reservations whether an unbiased investigation can be conducted. The country must learn: What did Pelosi know beforehand? What did McConnell know? And what did Mayor Bowser know? But I doubt this can or will be done.
Graham, secondly, condemned Mitch McConnell’s strong words against the President, stating “Mitch McConnell is going to be center stage now in 2022 and efforts to take back the Senate.” He said that McConnell’s words will appear in campaign ads being used against the Republicans.
Third, when asked about the future of the Republican party and whether Nikki Haley was wrong to criticize President Trump, Senator Graham said, “Yes,” Nikki Haley is wrong in her criticism of the President.
And perhaps the most important take from the interview, Graham stated, “President Trump is the most vibrant force in the Republican party. The Trump movement is alive and well and people believe that he brought change to Washington. Poilicy-wise it was long over due.”
Graham categorically encouraged President Trump to help build and strengthen the Republican party.
Much of what the Senator said on Fox was encouraging for the Republican party and favorable for President Trump, however, I took exception to his description of President Trump’s categorization of the election being stolen.
Graham stated President Trump’s “behavior after the election was over the top.” And in relation to the consequences of January 6th, Graham stated the President’s “actions were the problem. Not the solution.” I believe these descriptions were not correct and may have been hurtful to the Republican party. Graham at times seems to be part of the Republican cause, but other times he seems to have gone full RINO.
What say you Def-Con News readers? Democrats impeached President Trump two times, unconstitutionally each time. It would seem appropriate to serve up payback for both impeachments by simultaneously impeaching Biden and Harris. What a play that would be, yes? But Joe Biden likely won’t hold up through 2021 and 2022. And neither will Pelosi, so don’t worry about her being in line for the presidency.
