Feds Admit They Have No Case Against Capitol ‘Insurrectionists’

According to democrats, the liberal media, and federal prosecutors, the mild protests at the Capitol on January 6 were an “armed deadly insurrection. According to facts, January 6 was a mild protest devoid of arms, death, and insurrection. In fact, federal prosecutors have all but admitted this as they are seeking to delay the trials of the Capitol “insurrectionists. Obviously they have no evidence in these cases and want to delay dropping the charges as long as possible.

Here’s a piece of news that flew under the radar from Axios:

Federal prosecutors submitted a filing Friday morning requesting a 60-day delay in a series of cases related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, describing the massive undertaking as “likely the most complex investigation ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”

The most complex investigation ever prosecuted by the Justice Department? *coughs* Bullshit! *coughs*

The “Capitol riot” was a bunch of knuckleheads, mostly leftists, running around the Capitol building, doing very little damage. The Justice Department has investigated terrorism, espionage, organized crime, and corruption, all which are infinitely more complex than the Buffalo Guy taking a dump in Nancy Pelosi’s office.

Axios notes that the feds have arrested more than 300 “domestic terrorists” and charged them with crimes like assault, trespassing and destruction of government property. Prosecuting cases like these should be pretty simple: either they have proof or they don’t. Requesting a delay for silly shit like this means they don’t have the evidence.

They may have some video of a handful of people battling with police of breaking a window, but that’s it. The vast majority of the people in the Capitol on January 6 were let in a side door by the Capitol Police. It’s going to be impossible to prove trespassing when the cops let the people into the “People’s House.”

The Justice Department made this delay request, citing the Speedy Trial Act, which guarantees a defended is indicted 30 days from arrest and given a trail 70 from the indictment. Most of these “insurrectionists” were arrested and indicted in January, which means their trials must begin in early April. The feds want to push that back to sometime in June.

Here’s what’s really going on: many of the people arrested in connection with the events of January 6 are being held without bail. Prosecutors know they don’t have solid cases against most of them and are hoping by keeping them in jail for a long time will break the defendants and get them to accept plea bargain admissions of guilt.

The last thing the feds want is a public trail where they’ve charged someone with domestic terrorism and there is video of the person calmly walking in a door opened by Capitol Police. If however they can get that same person to accept a plea for a lesser charge, they can proudly declare that they’ve brought the hammer down on the Capitol “insurrectionists.”

Keep in mind that these are the same prosecutors who have dropped all charges against Black Live Matter rioters who attacked police officers and destroyed federal property, so clearly their interest in justice is a complete load of crap.

As much attention as there has been on the arrests and indictments against the “Capitol insurrectionists,” there will be a liberal media silence when these cases are quietly dismissed.
