The Biden regime has struck another blow against freedom with a ban on Fourth Of July fireworks at Mount Rushmore, the iconic monument that is hated with a purple passion by the demonic, anti-American left.
In a letter from Biden’s head of the National Park Service, the request for the fireworks display was rejected, citing “health and safety risks” due to the coronavirus, the standard rationale for the stealing away of civil liberties from Americans whose one year preview of life under authoritarian communism may become permanent.
The refusal to allow the fireworks on federal land is also a petty and spiteful gesture from occupied Washington toward South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican who never caved to the pressure to lock down her state which has been affected very little by the COVID hysteria and much more by the Biden regime’s economic terrorism, including the cancelation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

The National Park Service (NPS) has denied a request from the state of South Dakota to hold a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore to celebrate the Fourth of July this year.
NPS Regional Director Herbert Frost wrote in a letter to the head of the state’s tourism department that NPS is “unable to grant a request to have fireworks at the Memorial.”
“Potential risks to the park itself and to the health and safety of employees and visitors associated with the fireworks demonstration continue to be a concern and are still being evaluated as a result of the 2020 event,” Frost wrote. “In addition, the park’s many tribal partners expressly oppose fireworks at the Memorial.”
“These factors, compiled with the COVID-19 pandemic, do not allow a safe and responsible fireworks display to be held at this site,” he added.
Frost noted that although progress is being made in fighting the pandemic, the situation is still “dynamic” and said it is “only prudent to make plans based on the best available science and public health guidance available today.”
Last year, Mount Rushmore was the scene of a rousing speech in which then-President Donald J. Trump defended American values from the left’s attacks.
Given Mount Rushmore’s importance to America and the four faces chiseled into the face of the mountain of former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln whose statues are being toppled, it is a prime target for the communist-inspired mobs.
On Thursday, globalist puppet Joe Biden gave a speech from the White House in which he told Americans that if they behaved, obeyed and lined up for their poisonous injections that he might allow them to celebrate July 4th in small groups, now it doesn’t look like any of them will be permitted to gather at Mount Rushmore.
