What Will Be The Viable Fix For Congress to Make? Boulder Shooting Suspect Passed Gun Background Check

Removing guns from the hands of law-abiding citizens is not the answer to this currently unsolvable problem. Republicans appear to be emasculated. They are rudderless and drifting toward the rocks. The democrats and their rhetoric don’t make any sense at all. Labeling the fix simply as ‘Gun Control’ then moving to eliminate gun ownership will solve nothing. The problem will be compounded. Presently, the two sides of the aisle refuse to even try to agree on what to do. Actually, democrats refuse to budge from their all-or-nothing ‘Gun Control’ demand. Republicans are at least refusing to cave.

Democrats, how about you label the initiative ‘Addressing Gun Violence?’ Then cease attacking the NRA. Stop going after lawful gun ownership and legal use. Then tackle Mental Health Care in America. Also, address improving background checks. These last two issues seem to be the weak links in the continued gun violence in America.

Preceding this most recent mass shooting, a store owner where the suspect in the Colorado supermarket massacre bought his gun, reportedly said the sale was lawful after the alleged shooter had passed the required background check.

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, bought his AR-15-style Ruger AR-556 at the Eagles Nest Armory in Arvada, about 20 miles southeast of Boulder, 9NEWS reported.

The store’s owner, John Mark Eagleton, said the accused gunman passed a background check before making the purchase.

“We are absolutely shocked by what happened and our hearts are broken for the victims and families that are left behind,” he wrote in a statement to the outlet.

“Ensuring every sale that occurs at our shop is lawful, has always been and will always remain the highest priority for our business,” Eagleton continued.

“Regarding the firearm in question, a background check of the purchaser was conducted as required by Colorado law and approval for the sale was provided by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation,” he wrote.

“We have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement as their investigation continues,” the owner added.

Alissa bought the Ruger on March 16th, shortly after the firearm was made legal in Boulder, where he allegedly slaughtered 10 people at a King Soopers supermarket six days later.

The Syrian native – who faces 10 counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder — appeared in court Thursday for a procedural hearing in the mass-murder case.

What say you Def-Con News readers? Before a problem can be properly addressed, it must be properly identified. I don’t believe the democrats want to address the problem of gun violence, of illegal possession of guns in America, nor of guns being sold legally to people who in all actuality should not be in possession of a gun. Giving the over-arching issue a name like ‘Gun Control’ and then attacking the NRA and legal gun owners will not solve the problem. The opposing sides have become polarized. They seem to be immovable from their positions at the expense of the American people. The time for meaningful action is long overdue.
