Former CDC Director: COVID Escaped from Wuhan Lab

The China Virus originated in a Wuhan, China laboratory.

This conjecture does not seem to be an irrational or unreasonable one, yet mainstream media outlets have been quick to dismiss the theory. The World Heath Organization announced in February that it was “extremely unlikely” the virus leaked from a Chinese lab. Mainstream media outlets such as the publicly funded NPR have been quick to label this theory as “conspiracy.”

Scientists have been unable to provide substantial evidence that confirms the sole origination of COVID-19 was animal to human transmission. While citing bats as a “probable” source of transmission, there are many questions still to be asked by health experts across the globe.

The former leader of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control told CNN in a clip aired Friday that he thinks the coronavirus may have originated in a lab such as the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

“If I was to guess, this virus started transmitting somewhere in September, October in Wuhan.”

Redfield noted that it is unlikely that a virus with the transmission rates of SARS-CoV-2 came from an animal:

“I do not believe this somehow came from a bat to a human — and, at that moment in time, the virus came to the human, became one of the most infectious viruses that we know in humanity for human-to-human transmission . . . It takes a while for it to figure out how to become more and more efficient in human-to-human transmission. I just don’t think this makes biological sense.”

Robert Redfield was appointed as the director of the CDC by Former President Donald Trump in 2018 after the resignation of the scandal-stricken Brenda Fitzgerald. Redfield was serving as director at the time of the first confirmed case in the United States.  Redfield was also a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force under President Trump.

“I still think the most likely etiology of this pathogen in Wuhan was from a laboratory . . . It is not unusual for respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in a laboratory to infect the laboratory worker.”

While Redfield is not implying intentionality and admits this is only opinion, the former director has access to a wealth of resources many scientists in the private sector are not afforded. This clearly seems to be a rather informed opinion as Redfield played a key role in the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic.

President Trump was harshly criticized for his administration’s Operation Warp Speed which led to one million administered vaccines per day in the U.S. prior to the inauguration of Joe Biden. Trump was also proactive in instituting a travel ban on China and Europe – a move that was quickly labeled as “xenophobic” by top Democrats.

The Biden team has been reluctant to hold China accountable for the origination of the virus, human rights abuses in the Xinjiang province, and the attack on pro-democracy advocates in Hong Kong. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was challenged on the global stage during the administration’s first high-level meeting with Chinese representatives. A top Chinese Communist Party foreign affairs official cited a lack of election integrity in 2020 as a reason for the U.S. to “stop advancing its own democracy in the rest of the world.” As Americans continue to wait on the Biden administration to get tough on the CCP, the President continues to refer to China not as a threat, but as a “serious competitor.”
