The Hard Road

Via American Greatness

To save the republic, its citizens are going to have to do the work. We will not win back our freedom by passively awaiting the arrival of a white knight.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
— John F. Kennedy

All empires eventually fall. The trick is to put off the end for as long as possible and to make the years in between the start and the finish the best they can be. Bumps and ruts in the road during these in-between years are standard fare. We get ourselves in trouble, make mistakes, and, at times, bumble along. If we can identify our mistakes, learn from them and generally not repeat them, our republic has a better chance of a long and prosperous existence.

America is in the middle of one of those bump-and-rut situations right now, and it’s going to take a concerted effort to get our country back on the road to liberty and prosperity. Instead, we are sitting mesmerized in front of our iPhones and TVs, sending our hard-earned money to political grifters and expecting someone to come along to save us. Pretending the last five years didn’t happen and waiting for the 2022 midterms to vote our way back to sanity is in itself the definition of insanity. The hard truth is that no one is coming to save us.

In 1979, when almost everything in America seemed broken, Jimmy Carter famously said we were suffering from a “crisis of confidence” in an address commentators soon dubbed “the malaise speech.” For our time, maybe the better description would be we’re in the middle of a national shit sandwich. On one hand, it’s obvious that political “business as usual” is over. At the federal level, voting and elected representation are now comically low-return mechanisms for influencing the actions of government. On the other hand, the seppuku-like overreaction to the January 6 Capitol clown show has cowed conservatives into abandoning the remaining avenues of physical protest and dissent against the Left’s authoritarian aspirations.

So, what’s left? George Will-style principled debate? How does that debate exist within the framework of our current cancel culture? If traditional America wants to be anything other than the Left’s token opposition, it needs to push away from the political dinner table and say “No . . . no more of this shit sandwich for me, Mom.”

Big Moves From Mike Pence. What’s His Endgame?

Via PJ Media

Former Vice President Mike Pence may be laying the groundwork for a 2024 presidential run, or he may be working to bring the Republican Party together to a new post-Donald Trump synthesis, or he may be solidifying his legacy. Whatever his ultimate goal, Pence is making some big moves.

On Wednesday, Mike Pence launched the Advancing American Freedom (AAF) advocacy group, designed to merge traditional conservatism with Trumpism, The Washington Examiner reported. AAF will seek to defend the Trump-Pence administration’s record while building what aides described as a “winning formula for a broader coalition.”

The Washington Examiner‘s Byron York noted that AAF seems focused on building a “post-Trump synthesis.”

The organization’s board includes longtime conservative leaders and Trump-Pence veterans, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich; Gov. Doug Ducey (R-Ariz.); former Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.); Heritage Foundation Founder Ed Fuelner; Trump aide Kellyanne Conway; top Trump economic advisor Larry Kudlow; Trump OMB Director Russ Vought; Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese; Club for Growth President David McIntosh; former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.); and others. Pence recruited Paul Teller — former chief of staff to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former executive director of the Republican Study Committee, and a deputy assistant to then-President Trump — to serve as AAF’s executive director.

York noted that “it is not hard to see them on a Pence for President committee.”

Yet another piece of news puts a wrinkle into the claim that Pence is laying the groundwork for a 2024 White House run. Not only did the former VP assemble that tremendous team of conservatives, but he also got his former boss on board.

“It was the most successful first term in American history,” Trump told the Examiner. “Nice to see Mike highlighting some of our many achievements!”

AAF represents the culmination of a few key Pence moves. In February, the former VP joined the Heritage Foundation as a distinguished visiting fellow and he joined Young America’s Foundation as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar.

Also on Wednesday, CNN reported that Mike Pence had signed a multi-million-dollar book deal with Simon & Schuster.

Whether or not Pence aims to run for president in 2024, he is assembling a movement, building a platform for his ideas, and penning two books guaranteed to be best-sellers.

Tech Companies Put Billions Into Startups Aiming to Harvest the Blood of Children for Rejuvenation, Anti-Aging

Via Big League Politics

Powerful tech corporations are putting billions of dollars into startups that intend to harvest the blood of children for the purposes of rejuvenation and anti-aging.

Newsweek published a profile on the growing industry, which includes injecting stem cells taken from dead mutilated fetuses into people, of humans playing God with disastrous consequences.

Stanford University neurologist Tony Wyss-Coray found years ago, with help from Saul Villeda, in 2011 and 2014 that injecting the blood of young mice into older mice had tremendously positive effects on their brain chemistry. His company Alkahest has done additional research in subsequent years.

Spanish firm Grifols has purchased Alkahest for $146 million, which may open up Pandora’s Box with regards to harvesting the blood of children. They hope to find a synthetic fountain of youth from researching the plasma of their young volunteers. This work is changing the field of geroscience forever, for better or worse.

Until these recent breakthroughs, “people working on diseases did not think that aging was modifiable,” says Felipe Sierra, who was formerly director of the Division of Aging Biology under the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

“That is actually what many medical books say: The main risk factor for cardiovascular disease is aging, but we cannot change aging so let’s talk about cholesterol and obesity. For Alzheimer’s, aging is the main risk factor—but let’s talk about the buildup in the brain of beta-amyloid proteins. Now that is beginning to change,” he added.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, billions were pouring into this new industry. Some firms want to create infusions to change blood chemistry in the elderly. Others want to alter stem cells by introducing certain proteins into the bloodstream. The NIA is getting in on the action now, planning to spend $100 million over five years to understand “cellular senescence.”

Scientists are already coming up with quaint-sounding justifications to commit atrocities.

“If you put this work in an evolutionary perspective, we were not supposed to live that long,” says Gerard Karsenty, who is chair of the Department of Genetics and Development at the Columbia University Medical Center.

“Aging is an invention of mankind. No animal species has successfully cheated its own body—cheated nature—except mankind. Elephants may live for 100 years but they lived for 100 years a million years ago. Humans have outsmarted their own body,” he added.

We Are Governed by People Who Suck

Via The American Spectator

Joe Biden’s handlers are actively promoting the same decline they’ve engineered everywhere they’ve been.

Let’s face it: Joe Biden sucks.

Everything about him sucks. He sucks as a messenger, his economic policies suck, he completely sucks as a truth-teller. He sucks in the integrity department.

And people suffering from the debilitating effects of old age can tell you that absolutely sucks. You are not the person you used to be, and you can’t do the things you used to do.

Joe Biden sucked before he became increasingly, cruelly incapacitated by the decline of his faculties. Thursday’s Potemkin sham of a press conference, in which pre-written questions and scripted answers replaced an honest dialogue with the American people over the state of our union, made that clear.

That press conference sucked. It wasn’t a press conference; it was a book report.

We shouldn’t have been forced to embrace Biden’s suck.

Biden’s family sucks for putting him, and us, through what’s going to obviously get much worse over time.

This man has the toughest job in the world, and it’s obvious he’s not up to the task. If you can’t answer questions off the cuff from an almost universally friendly press corps, it means you suck at the job.

We’ve had presidents who have sucked before. But not since Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in office and finished his second presidential term as an invalid, mostly comatose, with his wife running the country as a proxy president, have we had a situation sucking as badly as this one clearly will.

What’s worse is even now, we really don’t know who’s running the country. It’s supposed to be the guy we elected. The president is supposed to be in charge.

Is Joe Biden in charge? He doesn’t even know what he’s doing here. He says it all the time.

That sucks. And the world is watching.

Democrats Warn That If HR 1 Isn’t Passed, Republicans Could Win Some Elections

Via The Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON D.C.—As states like Georgia move to change voting laws, Democrats are pushing a federal voting law, HR 1, to take over voting in all states and counteract such moves. And as they promote the law, Democrats have a dire warning: If HR 1 isn’t passed, Republicans could sometimes win elections.

“If we don’t radically change voting laws,” Senator Chuck Schumer told the press, “we could have horrible outcomes to elections in which Republicans sometimes win. We Democrats, along with journalists, have explained over and over to the American people that Republicans are bad and Democrats are smart and good, and yet Republicans keep sometimes winning. Obviously, something bad is going on there, and it must be stopped.”

HR 1 will help stop Republicans from winning by allowing more mail-in voting and other methods that will allow Democrats to stall voting counts for weeks to “find” more votes when needed. It will also make voting so easy that it will ensure the enfranchisement of Democrats’ most reliably loyal group: foreign terrorists who hate America and want to destroy it.

If the bill passes, Democrats assure people that something like President Trump winning — or any other Republican winning — will never happen again. There are some concerns that the bill could be ruled unconstitutional, but Democrats say that would only happen if people interpret the Constitution as “some sort of document with words that actually mean things.”
