There’s Something Fishy About No Charges For Capitol Police Officer Who Shot Ashli Babbitt

Def-Con News has already pointed out today that not all police killings are treated equal with the lack of riots follow a cop shooting a white kid in Maryland. It turns out the justice system doesn’t treat them equally either. The cop who accidentally shot black criminal Daunte Wright on Sunday has already been charged while the DoJ has announced 3 months later that the Capitol Police officer who killed unarmed white woman Ashli Babbitt won’t be charged. And that’s not the only fishy thing going on here.

Ashli Babbitt was the Air Force vet who shot to death by a Capitol Police officer during the January 6 Capitol protests/riots/insurrection. She was unarmed at the time and did nothing more than attempt to climb through a broken window when a plainclothes officer put a slug in her.

It’s been over 3 months since the incident and to the surprise of no one, the Justice Department has announced that the officer, who remans unnamed, will not be facing any charges:

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice will not pursue criminal charges against the U.S. Capitol Police officer involved in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, the Office announced today.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia’s Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section and the Civil Rights Division, with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division (IAD), conducted a thorough investigation of Ms. Babbitt’s shooting.

Based on that investigation, officials determined that there is insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution.

The investigation concluded that the officer had no choice but to shoot unarmed Babbitt in self-defense. It further determined that the officer in no way violated Babbitt’s civil rights by killing her. Apparently living isn’t a civil right.

This announcement is was completely expected as the DoJ had already reached the conclusion before starting their investigation. There is one kind of weird thing in the press release however. Check out how they describe the babbitt shooting:

As members of the mob continued to strike the glass doors, Ms. Babbitt attempted to climb through one of the doors where glass was broken out.  An officer inside the Speaker’s Lobby fired one round from his service pistol, striking Ms. Babbitt in the left shoulder, causing her to fall back from the doorway and onto the floor.  A USCP emergency response team, which had begun making its way into the hallway to try and subdue the mob, administered aid to Ms. Babbitt, who was transported to Washington Hospital Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.

She was shot in the shoulder? It was assumed that she was either hit in the neck or chest, but the DoJ says “left shoulder.” How is a shoulder hit fatal? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it highly unlikely someone would die from being shot in the shoulder. Especially with timely medical attention.

This has to be a lie. Let’s go to the video:

In both videos, Babbitt is seen instantly unconscious following the shot. This is not a reaction one would expect with a shoulder hit. A shot to the head, neck, or heart, yes, but not the shoulder.

4 out of 5 single gunshot wounds are non-lethal. That means if a person is shot anywhere on the body just once, they have an 80% chance of surviving. There actually exists some research on shoulder shots and they are lethal only 3.8% of the time.

Def-Con News did some digging on the Ashli Babbitt shooting and found many inconsistencies calling into question the reality of it. This DoJ lethal shoulder shot thing makes it seem even less believable.
