The Census is in and 6 states are losing a Congressional seat. It’s pretty funny that 2 of those states are California and New York but down right hilarious why the Empire State is shedding a Representative. NY missed out on keeping a Congressional district by 89 people, which means if Governor Andrew Cuomo hadn’t killed so many people in nursing homes, the state wouldn’t have lost a seat.
The Hill reports on the census winners:
Texas is set to add two U.S. House seats to its delegation after a decade in which the state added more than 4 million new residents.
Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and Oregon will each add one more seat. Montana will also add a district, its second in total, coming 30 years after it lost that second seat in a previous round of apportionment.
And the census losers:
Illinois, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania will all lose a single seat, extending losing streaks that date back to the years before and after World War II. Michigan will lose a seat for the fifth consecutive census.
West Virginia will also lose a seat, lowering its congressional delegation to two seats beginning in the next Congress. Its population declined by a larger share than any other state over the past decade, shrinking by 3.2 percentage points.
And for the first time since it joined the Union, California’s congressional delegation will shrink by one seat.
The liberal enclaves of New York, Illinois, and California all lost a seat each, mostly because people don’t want to live in high crime, high taxes, low freedom hellholes.
Now here’s the icing on the cake:
In a measure of the narrow margin by which the final seats are allocated, the Census Bureau said New York lost its 27th district by just 89 residents.
NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered COVID-19 patients admitted to nursing homes and a kind estimate is that it ended up killing 15,430 elderly people. Had he not done that, New York would have easily had 89 more people and been able to keep its Congressional seat.
I can’t help but to notice the irony that Florida actually gained a seat in this census. The liberal media touted Cuomo as the hero of the pandemic and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the villain. Not only did Florida do better in terms of hospitalizations and deaths, they actually gained population and a Congressional seat.
Another way to look at this is if Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio hadn’t caved to Black Lives Matter and let crime soar while defunding the police, they would have kept a seat. At least 89 more people were murdered last year because of this and that’s all it would have taken.
New York, Illinois, and California can’t even blame Trump on this one, or they shouldn’t. The former President tried to include a citizenship question on the census but they sued him and had it removed. These 3 sanctuary states had all of their illegal aliens counted and still came up short.
In a story that is so full of comedy, here’s the actual funniest part about this: NY will redraw it’s Congressional districts and it might be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who gets the boot. In California, Adam Schiff got the extra seat in the last census when they expanded so when they contract, he might be out too.
