While China Plots War, Biden’s Military Goes Woke

Via FrontPage Magazine

Electric cars, critical race theory, and defeatism.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has called for a “new vision” for the military even if no one, including him, can explain what it is. Austin has been touting something he calls “Integrated Deterrence” a buzzword that seems to involve AI, the State Department, and some sort of new way of war. But mostly it means that war is a silly idea and that no one should fight wars.

“The cornerstone of America’s defense is still deterrence, ensuring that our adversaries understand the folly of outright conflict,” Austin declared in his big Pearl Harbor speech.

The problem, for the last 70 years, is that Americans see war as folly, but our enemies do not. And Austin, who headed up Obama’s disastrous retooling of the Iraq War which turned over half the country to Iran and the other half to ISIS, ought to know that better than anyone else.

There’s a massive gap between Patton’s “Americans play to win all the time” and Austin’s insistence that, “the costs and risks of aggression are out of line with any conceivable benefit.”

Iran certainly doesn’t think so and Obama and Austin didn’t give it any reason to think differently.

We end up fighting endless wars because we get into them to deter rather than to defeat the enemy. Our leaders believe wars are a terrible idea, and so they never set out to win one. Instead they stumble into wars and wait around for our enemies to be deterred by our determination to fight them to a stalemate until we give up and go home. And then do it again.

But if the military isn’t for winning, what is it for? Austin’s “Integrated Deterrence” means the military playing second fiddle to the State Department. He argues that the “U.S. military isn’t meant to stand apart, but to buttress U.S. diplomacy” and work with other federal agencies.

Austin already knows to defer to the State Department because he was a member of Secretary of State Blinken’s Pine Island Capital gang whose people now dominate foreign policy.

And integration means Austin serving on Biden’s task force to promote labor organizing.

What does any of that have to do with the military? A better question might be what Biden and Austin’s woke new military has to do with the military.

In his 100 days review, Austin claimed that his first priority was sexual assault. While rape and any crime in the military should be dealt with, it sends a ridiculous message to our enemies when that’s the top priority of the U.S. defense chief. ”Sexual assault is a problem that plagues us. It is a readiness issue. It is a leadership issue. We’re going to lead real change for real results,” Austin ranted. Somehow I doubt China’s military bosses are focusing on crime issues.

After sexual assault there was extremism and vaccine rates: all of which are political priorities.

But Austin came into office defining the coronavirus as our greatest national security challenge. And then declaring global warming to be an “existential threat” that he intended to meet by “electrifying our own vehicle fleets.” Because what the military really needs is electric cars that won’t function when the temperature drops or the charging stations are too far away.

While the Pentagon is focusing on leftist politics, Afghanistan is heating up with some of the worst fighting in a while and the Taliban are being hit with the hardest air strikes in years even as Biden preps for an alleged withdrawal. The Taliban have been making gains and the Biden administration would like to avoid a humiliating retreat under fire. But that may be unavoidable.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Milley was assuring the troops that whether you’re “male or female, gay or straight or trans or something in between”, it’s all good.

While all the identity politics is making headlines, the big questions about China and Islamic terrorism aren’t.

The Age of Fear: A Graduation Message for Terrifying Times

By John W. Whitehead & Nisha Whitehead

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”—Hermann Goering, Nazi leader

With all that is crashing down upon us, from government-manipulated crises to the blowback arising from a society that has repeatedly prized technological expedience and mass-marketed values over self-ownership and individual sovereignty, those coming of age today are facing some of the greatest threats to freedom the world has ever witnessed.

It’s downright frightening.

Young people will find themselves overtaxed, burdened with excessive college debt, and struggling to find worthwhile employment in a debt-ridden economy on the brink of implosion. Their privacy will be eviscerated by the surveillance state. They will be threatened, intimidated and beaten by militarized police. They will be the subjects of a military empire constantly waging war against shadowy enemies and government agents armed to the teeth ready and able to lock down the country at a moment’s notice.

As such, they will find themselves forced to march in lockstep with a government that no longer exists to serve the people but which demands that “we the people” be obedient slaves or suffer the consequences.

It’s a dismal prospect, isn’t it?

Unfortunately, we failed to guard against such a future.

Worse, we who should have known better neglected to maintain our freedoms or provide our young people with the tools necessary to resist oppression and survive, let alone succeed, in the impersonal jungle that is modern America.

We brought them into homes fractured by divorce, distracted by mindless entertainment, and obsessed with the pursuit of materialism. We institutionalized them in daycares and afterschool programs, substituting time with teachers and childcare workers for parental involvement. We turned them into test-takers instead of thinkers and automatons instead of activists.

We allowed them to languish in schools which not only look like prisons but function like prisons, as well—where conformity is the rule and freedom is the exception. We made them easy prey for our corporate overlords, while instilling in them the values of a celebrity-obsessed, technology-driven culture devoid of any true spirituality. And we taught them to believe that the pursuit of their own personal happiness trumped all other virtues, including any empathy whatsoever for their fellow human beings.

We have allowed them to be manipulated by a corporate culture that simply wants money and control. However, as Aldous Huxley warned: “The victim of mind-manipulation does not know he is a victim. To him, the walls of his prison are invisible and he believes himself to be free.”

No, we haven’t done this generation any favors.

Based on the current political climate, things could very well get much worse before they ever take a turn for the better. Here are a few pieces of advice that will hopefully help those coming of age today survive the perils of the journey that awaits:

“This Is The Ministry Of Truth”: Merriam-Webster Edits Definition For “Anti-Vaxxer” To Include Opponents Of Mandatory Jabs

Via Zero Hedge

In another horrifyingly Orwellian example of the media world powers-that-be – in this case, dictionary impresario Merriam-Webster, struggling for relevance in the digital age – the official definition of the word “anti-vaxxer” (a recent edition to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary) has been changed to include people who oppose forced inoculation mandates.

It’s a subtle, but still shocking, example of how the White House’s narrative trickles down through the media firmament, from the news, to talk shows, and even to the dowdy business of reference-book publishing.

RT reported on the change, citing a tweet from rapper and podcaster Zuby, who tweeted a photo of the changed definition with the caption “Welcome to 1984. This is The Ministry of Truth”.

Many others commented, with some noting that they now fit the definition of “anti-vaxxer”, a term that has sunk to just a notch above “nazi” in the parlance of American Social Justice Warriors.

This isn’t the first time that Merriam-Webster has been embroiled in an ugly political episode. Back in October, Merriam-Webster edited its definition of the word “preference” to explicitly note that it is now considered “offensive” in reference to a person’s “sexual preference.” The revision helped back up Hawaii Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono when she accused Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett of being biased against gay people when she used the term as a synonym for ”sexual orientation.”

For the record, the term “anti-vaxxer” is relatively new, having entered the Merriam-Webster dictionary lexicon in 2009. The connotation is that anyone who expresses skepticism about vaccines or their safety is branded as an unhinged conspiracy theorist on par with the “9/11 truthers” or those who believe in the “Flat Earth” conspiracies.

In the 21st century, all media companies are being forced to find new ways to innovate and monetize, now that the fact that their entire dictionary is available online for free has started to cut into book sales growth, we suppose MW has, in its own way, decided to innovate. Since nobody cares about facts and the correct usage of words, it will just tell you whether using them will make you racist or not.

Pets adopted during the pandemic are being returned at record numbers

Via Fox News

Pets are not supposed to be fads.

Reports of a troubling trend have begun to surface across the country of large numbers of people returning pets that they adopted during the pandemic. Apparently, as things begin to return to normal, people are realizing that they may not be as prepared for the pet as they thought they were.

Shelters across the United States are seeing higher than average rates of returns, the BBC reports. About a year ago, these same shelters saw a spike in adoptions as people faced lockdowns due to the pandemic.

As the pandemic dies down, people are going back to the office and traveling again, which apparently means that many feel like they can no longer care for their recently adopted pets. One shelter worker who spoke with the BBC said that after the animals got used to their new homes and routines, being returned can be “so hard” for them.

Aron Jones, executive director of Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue told Fox 31 that people have apparently had a change of heart when their schedules changed back to pre-pandemic routines. Jones described the situation as awful.

“We made a lot of changes to our adoption process to prevent people from returning dogs once pandemic ended,” Jones explained. “But for the past four months, we have had an extreme number of returns. We have doubled more than what we normally do during a year. I think what is happening, the world is opening up, people are going back to work, they’re traveling. People aren’t just lonely anymore, so the dogs are not necessarily fitting into their lifestyles, and they are returning them instead of trying to make adjustments to keep their dog now that the world is opening up.”

Bill de Blasio’s New Vaccination Plan: Free Fries

Via Outkick

Bill de Blasio is saving Americans with a deal too good to pass up: free Shake Shack fries with proof of vaccination.

Bill de Blasio, an everyday gourmand like you and I, held a press briefing Thursday morning with a burger for breakfast in one hand and the key to New York City’s fight against COVID in the other.

Joined by Shake Shack CEO Randy Garuitti, the mayor announced that vaccinated New Yorkers will now be able to receive a free side of fries (cheese fries not eligible) with their meal after showing their vaccine card.

It may be the easy, logical thing to do in places like Los Angeles or New York where a vaccine card is like a backstage pass at a Zeppelin concert, full of incentives and drugs … or the drug itself as the incentive for most. But the mixed messaging on what the vaccine will allow Americans to enjoy once they are inoculated according to the CDC’s standards has led to some hesitation, though not the rabid “anti-vaxxer” sentiment Democratic leaders assume of their citizens.

Vaccine supplies have exceeded demand in the past month after eligibility opened up across the nation. A large majority of Americans’ decision not to receive the shot is now not so much a reflection of accessibility as it is personal choice.

If people are NOW thinking of getting the vaccine because of an offer that would save them $2.99, we can only hope such people are few and far between.

Shake Shack is fortunate enough to be approved by de Blasio, unlike Chipotle, which has been sued by the city due to “poor working conditions and low wages.” De Blasio joined a protest in Madison Square Park on Wednesday to boycott the chain amid a growing hiring crisis that is hurting restaurants everywhere.

Just like the murder rates in New York, your meal will see a 45% boost in flavor with some complimentary fries. Pro tip: ask for their secret sauce. It normally goes on the burger but tastes better as a dip.

If you’re ordering your meal for pickup, vax card in hand, to avoid lengthy lines or a crime waiting to happen, don’t panic over sending them your ETA. They’ll know you’re coming.

So the next time you’re walking in New York City and spot a mound of crap on the sidewalk with a crinkle cut fry sticking out, you can smile knowing that your city is beating the virus, one tasty offer at a time.
