Democrat Threatens That The 2nd Amendment Can’t Protect Us From The Government

For some reason, democrats think that threatening to crush our Constitutional rights is winning message to convince us to put them in office. A democrat running for Congress has come up with the all-time worse campaign slogan: “The 2nd Amendment will not protect you from the government.” So far it has, so he’s wrong. He’s also wrong that we need guns to protect us from the government, we just need ’em when democrats are running the government.

Eric Garcia is a democrat running against Republican Devin Nunes for the 22nd Congressional seat in California. This is a a reliably red district in an otherwise blue state, so Garcia needs to do something to appeal to conservative voters. This ain’t it:

While it’s refreshing to see a democrat admit that we need to be protected against the government, Garcia is still a democrat which means he’s not on our side of this. His message is: the government is going to f*ck you up no matter what, so why not lay down your arms and accept the inevitable?

He of course is wrong, as the 2nd Amendment has kept the government at bay for almost 250 years. Try to name any country in the past quarter of a millennia that has enjoyed the uninterrupted freedom like we have. The reason? We have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms while no other country does. Countries without private gun ownership rights don’t have to worry about respecting any other rights because the people have no means to resist.

Garcia, who describes himself as disabled Marine veteran, doubled down on this idiocy:

As a Marine, did he ever carry an AR-15 in combat? A semi-automatic rifle that can be purchased at Bass Pro Shops is not a weapon of war and he should know it. He did say he was a disabled veteran, not that he was wounded in combat. Maybe he’s just mentally disabled, unrelated to his service.

There is further evidence of this because he was sworn to defend the Constitution and yet he thinks the right to keep and bear arms needs an argument to defend it. We don’t have to pick any lines to defend the 2nd Amendment. We don’t have to justify gun ownership, we don’t have to prove a need for gun ownership, and we don’t have to explain why we own guns.

Garcia did actually acknowledge that the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms exists, but he dismissed as irrelevant compared his non-existent rights:

Which enumerated Constitutional right guarantees Garcia gets to live? What part of the Constitution says Garcia’s fake rights are more important than our real rights?

Dude should probably bone up on the Constitution before he tries to get a job bound by it. He also might want to try a different message running for Congress in a solid red district. Conservative voters don’t respond to leftist anti-gun lunatics. This would be like a Republican running in Nancy Pelosi district with promises of lower taxes and more freedom. He’s doomed.
