The police union in Portland is begging the city to re-fund police with new billboards as crime skyrockets in the city to levels unseen in years. This from therightscoop.com.
The local news in Portland is covering this, noting that it’s not that police officers aren’t doing their jobs, but that they are overwhelmed by the number of calls they are getting and simply don’t have the manpower to deal with the calls.
As reported, there were 891 shootings in the city in all of 2020, and as 2021 is just half over there are already 719. This compared to just 388 in 2019.
Who woulda thought? The liberal citizenry disrespects the police by what they say and by resisting arrest, the police are depicted as abusive for merely performing their jobs, the elected officials take their cue from the words and actions of the liberal citizenry and defund the police, and the result is that crime, violence, and the numbers of injured and killed quickly pile up.
There are numerous lessons that should have been learned from history by Portland’s city leaders. Simple enough, when the tax base of large and small cities diminishes as a result of manufacturing and other businesses moving from old buildings badly in need of repair to new facilities outside the city, elected officials choose to cut the police budgets and consequently crime rises.
The question is, How many times must liberal-led cities re-learn this lesson? No matter, though, here is another good example for other cities by way of Portland. If facing a diminished budget, cut your own staff or perhaps yourself. But despite what the liberal citizenry tells you, DO NOT DEFUND THE POLICE.
