Norway’s message to American liberals is: gun control doesn’t keep people safe and Islam isn’t the religion of peace. A radicalized Muslim went on a jihad with a bow and arrows, killing 5 in the Scandinavian country. Not only were the people disarmed, so were the police, allowing the killer to carry out his evil acts without fear.
The NY Post reports that Muslim convert Espen Andersen Bråthen launched his jihad in the small town of Kongsberg, Norway, 40 miles southwest of Oslo. Police got a call about some kind of incident at 6:15 pm Wednesday and a half hour later, they had taken Brathen into custody.
In that 30 minute window, Brathen wandered the streets, killing 5 people with a bow and arrows.
“I mean, an untrained lone man equipped with knife, arrow and bow openly roamed in our streets for more than 30 minutes — headed to a grocery store in the beginning and attacked people there. And then made his way to a post office. Everywhere where he saw people gathering,” said a witness.
When police finally caught up with Brathen, hhe shot at them with the bow and arrows, wounding one officer critically. Two other people were also wounded with arrows and are also in critical condition. Of the 5 people killed, 4 were women and one was a man.
Brathen is a Danish man who converted to Islam and was radicalized at a local Mulsim center. He apparently issued a warning to this attack on a FaceBook post.
“Hello. I’m a messenger. I come with a warning. Is this really what you want? And for all who want to make up for themselves, so it’s time. Bear witness that I am a Muslim,” Brathen said.
The Norwegian intelligence service has classified the bow and arrow attack an “act of terror.”
The gun control laws in Norway are very strict. People can own certain firearms for hunting only and they have to jump through hoops to get a license. Handguns for protection and carry permits are non-existent.
Even dumber, the police in Norway don’t carry guns either. They have guns at the station, which can be issued in an emergency but there’s a lot bureaucracy involved. Even when the cops do get guns, they must have permission from a senior officer to fire it. Think about that. A mad man could be shooting at cops and they couldn’t return fire until they got the nod from their commander.
So this guy was running around this small town in Norway, randomly shooting people with a bow and arrows and no one, not even the police could stop him for 30 minutes.
If had pulled this in Texas or Florida, places that respect the right to keep and bear arms, his killing spree would have been limited to one victim, tops. As soon as he shot one arrow, he would’ve been aerated by good guys and gals with guns. Also, police response time in the U.S. is way better than 30 minutes, plus our cops carry guns.
American liberals love to point to countries like Norway as the model for what our country should be in terms of socialism and gun control. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to live somewhere where we utterly defenseless against a lunatic with a bow and arrow. Hell, Norwegians are defenseless against crazy dudes with heavy rocks or sharpened sticks.
