There’s a supply chain crisis in this country that threatens to destroy our economy and trigger the collapse of our society. This is a transportation issue but at least we have a gay guy who likes trains in charge of the Department of Transportation to fix things, right? Actually no. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has been on paid maternity leave for the past two months, helping his husband care for their adopted children.
Transportation Secretary is supposed to be a lay-up job with no real issues or responsibilities, but nothing is easy when Joe Biden is in the White House. The supply chain mess is an existential crisis that calls for real leadership to solve. Meanwhile, Politico reports Buttigieg has been playing Mr. Mom:
While U.S. ports faced anchor-to-anchor traffic and Congress nearly melted down over the president’s infrastructure bill in recent weeks, the usually omnipresent Transportation secretary was lying low.
One of the White House’s go-to communicators didn’t appear on TV. He was absent on Capitol Hill during the negotiations over the bill he had been previously helping sell to different members of Congress. Conservative critics tried (unsuccessfully) to get #WheresPete to trend and Fox News ran a story on October 4 with the headline: “Buttigieg quiet on growing port congestion as shipping concerns build ahead of holidays.”
They didn’t previously announce it, but Buttigieg’s office told West Wing Playbook that the secretary has actually been on paid leave since mid-August to spend time with his husband, Chasten, and their two newborn babies.
I said Buttigieg is on “maternity” leave because I’m assuming he’s the girl in the relationship. I could be wrong but I’m not.
I think it speaks volumes to the job Buttigieg is doing that he’s been gone for 2 months and nobody noticed. Also the transportation clusters*ck going on doesn’t exactly say he’s kicking ass. Licking maybe, but definitely not kicking.
This is like the Secretary of Defense going on vacation during Biden’s catastrophic Afghanistan pullout. Things may have turned out better if Lloyd Austin was AWOL but then again, the Biden Factor is always in play. Whether his cabinet member are present or not, things always turn out like shit.
While it seems pretty f*cked up that Buttigieg has been absent as the supply chain has collapsed, White Hosue press secretary Jen Psaki thinks he is courageous:
Also proud to work in an Administration that is fighting to make paid leave a reality for everyone, and with people like @SecretaryPete who are role models on the importance of paid leave for new parents https://t.co/Zby6W6XoNo

Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them look like gay Alfred E. Newman.
It seems kind of strange that the White House kept Buttigieg’s maternity leave a secret. Isn’t “gay guy puts family before job and country” the kind of woke feel-good story the Biden administration would want to promote?
The reason why they didn’t publicize this is because the only reason Buttigieg gets paid to pretend like he’s part of a normal family is due to that evil mother*cker, Donald Trump:

The White House has spent the past two months trying to figure out a way to take credit for this, which is why they never mentioned Pete Buttigieg was gone.
Next the White House will announce that Joe Biden has been on vacation for the past 9 months, to the surprise of no one. He’s apparently been dealing with cognitive issues.
