There could soon come about an opportunity for certain inquiries to be undertaken before further funding the Department of Justice. This from redstate.com.
Remember, recent events have more than suggested the Department, which was already under a cloud of suspicion concerning its quite apparent politically partisan approach to law enforcement, has entered a new phase of brazen partisanship.
Conveniently, the current Continuing Resolution that funds the Department’s operations expires on December 3rd (along with the funding for all other Executive Branch Departments).
What is the likelihood that Republicans in congress will demonstrate the testicular fortitude to insist a carve-out be made, allowing the rest of the government to proceed apace while the Department of Justice stands down for a review of its seemingly questionable and highly partisan law enforcement practices?
For example the following recent events are for review:
On October 4, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo to the FBI instructing the Bureau to “launch a series of additional efforts in the coming days designed to address the rise in criminal conduct directed toward school personnel.”
In context, and considering its contents, the memo was widely interpreted as an effort to intimidate, silence, and threaten parents who have been appearing at school board meetings around the country to protest racially-charged, seemingly political indoctrination that has been introduced into K-12 schools in recent months. Last week the FBI raided the homes of several current and former Project Veritas journalists.
The ostensible purpose for this Search For Law Enforcement Evidence was to find the stolen/missing/discarded diary of the president’s daughter, Ashley Biden. When the FBI didn’t find it, they raided the home of Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe as well.
Whatever fig leaf value the “Ashley Biden Diary” story might have had, it evaporated today when The New York Times suddenly started publishing privileged communications between Project Veritas and its legal team.
And this on the heels of a federal judge ordering the FBI to stop extracting data from James O’Keefe’s cell phones, seized in the raid. Once again, federal law enforcement has been used to deliver a political hit on the Biden Administration’s enemies. As they say on social media, let that sink in.
And recently the Department of Justice indicted Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress. He failed to heed a subpoena from the January 6 Commission.
I’d lost count of how many criminal referrals Republicans had sent to the Obama Administration DOJ for precisely the same violation. They even held Attorney General Eric Holder himself in contempt. Nothing ever happens when Republicans send these referrals to DOJ. But now this Limburger-stinky Political Witch Hunt subpoena suddenly draws an indictment.
The dangerous pattern here must be looked into. This all screams “politically partisan law enforcement.” Will that be denied? Of course. Whoever would do such a thing would surely lie about it. Regardless, it is time to put an end to it.
Needed are hearings, and interrogatories, and testimony from Attorney General Garland and FBI Director Wray.
And we need all of that before the Department of Justice sees another dime of appropriated funds.
If that means they have to furlough 70% of the staff on December 3rd, then so be it.
There is no place for a politically partisan law enforcement agency in a Democratic Republic. We have such an agency, we need to fix it, and we need to make it stop what it is doing while we effect repairs.
Nice thought, in general, above—even interesting reading—but Republicans, and particularly RINOs, would never work toward something like this. Get their hands dirty upholding their oaths? Not a chance.
But how much further will this misplacement of justice be allowed to continue? If the tables were turned 180 degrees, the colluding main stream media would certainly be screaming bloody murder.
