The phrase “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” was concocted because liberals insist that firearms are evil autonomous things that can kill people without any help. Alec Baldwin is going with that defense of his reckless shooting of a movie crew member. According to the actor, he never pulled the trigger and the gun just went off on its own.
In October, Alec Baldwin fatally shot director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, on the set of his movie Rust. While rehearsing a scene, Baldwin drew the gun, pointed it at Hutchins, pulled the trigger, and shot her dead. The bullet went through Hutchins and struck the director of the film, Joel Souza, but he survived. Nobody is saying Baldwin wanted to kill Hutchins but he is definitely responsible for not checking the gun and pulling the trigger.
Bladwin did an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos to repair his image. This is a teaser of the interview that will air on Thursday:
EXCLUSIVE: “The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Alec Baldwin tells @GStephanopoulos in first interview since fatal shooting on set of “Rust.”

The first part of the clip is Stephanopoulos asking questions and then Baldwin pretending to cry without answering.
“You haven’t said much in public since that tragic accident, why speak out now?” Stephanopoulos asked.
*sad duck face*
“I think the big question, and the one you must have asked yourself a thousand times — how could this have happened?” Stephanopoulos asked.
*sadder duckier face*
“You described it as a one in a trillion shot and the gun was in your had. How do you come to terms with that?” Stephanopoulos asked.
*crocodile tears*
Finally Baldwin answered a question when Stephanopoulos noted that, “It wasn’t in the script for the trigger to be pulled.”
“Well the trigger was pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” said Baldwin.
“So you never pulled the trigger?” Stephanopoulos followed up.
“No, no, no, no I would never point a gun at anybody and pull the trigger. Never,” Baldwin responded.
Okay, so explain how Hutchins was shot and killed. The way guns are designed is to fire a round when the trigger is pulled. Some older guns can fire if dropped just right but Baldwin didn’t drop the gun, it was in his hand. Under this configuration, the only way a round was fired was if Baldwin pulled the trigger, which he 100% did.
There’s no way this interview isn’t going to be anything but a fluff piece designed to clear Baldwin’s name but Stephanopoulos did ask a basic gun safety question.
“How do you respond to actors like George Clooney who say that every time they were handed a gun, they checked it themselves?” Stephanopoulos asked.
*stone face*
But then Stephanopoulos was there to repair Baldwin’s image:
“You’re emotions are so clearly, so right there on the surface. You felt shock. You felt anger. You felt sadness. Do you feel guilt?” Stephanopoulos asked.
What’s the point of the interview? George Stephanopoulos already has the answers.
And finally…
“You said you’re not a victim, but is this the worst thing that has ever happened to you?” Stephanopoulos asked.
“Yes. Because I, I think back, and I think of what could I have done,” Baldwin replied.
You could have checked the gun. You could have not pulled the trigger. This is not some big mystery.
This whole interview is bullshit, but it will achieve what its purpose is. Liberals are going to watch and think that the gun really did go off on its own and Alec Baldwin is as much of a victim as Hutchins. On top of that, it will reinforce the liberal narrative that guns are inherently evil and can kill on their own.
