Democrats Pass Bill To Limit Trump’s Presidential Powers Even Though He Is No Longer In Office

It’s been almost a year since Donald Trump left office but democrats, like CNN, can’t let him go. Continuing their parade of pointless legislation, House democrats passed a series of bills aimed at limiting Trump’s presidential powers even though he’s not in office. While this seems petty, it probably means that democrats are pretty sure Trump will win back the White House in 2024.

The Hill reports that House democrats and Adam Kinzinger passed The Protecting our Democracy Act today:

The House passed a sweeping legislative package on Thursday designed to guard against abuses of presidential powers as part of a package of reforms put forth by Democrats in the wake of former President Trump’s White House tenure.

But it’s not a bill to guard against abuses of presidential power, it’s a bill that specifically goes after Donald J. Trump:

The wide-ranging legislation put forth by Democrats would seek to establish more guardrails by, in part, requiring the Justice Department to provide information to Congress about any presidential pardon or commutation in cases involving a president or their relatives and suspending the statute of limitations for any federal crime committed by a sitting president or vice president.

It would further expedite the judicial process for congressional subpoena enforcement actions, after Trump officials effectively evaded participating in House Democrats’ investigations as court proceedings dragged on for months. In addition, it would authorize courts to issue fines to government officials who refuse to cooperate with congressional subpoenas.

A provision of the bill would require the president and vice president, as well as major-party candidates for those offices, to release ten years’ worth of tax returns to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). And if they refused to disclose the returns, the Treasury Department would be required to provide them to the FEC, which would make them public.

Another provision of the bill would require political committees to report to the FBI and FEC about certain foreign contacts. And in turn, the FBI would have to inform congressional intelligence committees about any reported contacts.

House Democrats’ bill would require each eligible presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate to be treated as the winner if the GSA doesn’t begin the transition process within five days of an election, until an ascertainment is made or Congress certifies the actual winner.

As you can see, this bill is all about Trump and not about abuses of power by just any old president. There’s certainly nothing in there that says a president’s crackhead son can’t make millions of dollars from hostile foreign nations. There is also no provision requiring a sitting president to undergo cognitive and competency tests.

Ironically, or more likely purposefully, this bill that claims to rein in presidential abuses of power is actually an abuse of power by the House of Representatives. They are the legislative branch, which means they make the laws, but they want executive branch powers of law enforcement. This is a clear violation of the separation of powers.

Really this is just democrats showing that they have a shitty poker face. They know Biden sucks and will not even run in 2024. They are also aware that Kamala Harris is a nightmare and it’s certain that a Republican will be the next President of the United States. What the democrats are saying is that they believe Trump will run and win in 2024 and they want to make sure they can screw him over before he retakes the office.

Democrats are generally pretty pointless in what they do but what other explanation could there be for passing a bill that limits Donald Trump’s presidential powers?

The good news here is that this bill indicates democrats don’t think they can get away with stealing another presidential election.
