David Hogg Says It’s Easier To Buy A Gun Than A Car Because He’s Never Tried To Buy Either

A favorite liberal lie is that it’s easier to buy a gun than (fill in the blank). Obama has said it’s easier to buy a gun than books or vegetables. On the same level of stupid, David Hogg, one of the insufferable anti-gun kids from March for Our Lives, says it’s easier to buy a gun than a car. Obviously he’s never tried to purchase either of these items or he’d know how stupid he sounds.

It’s unclear what set Hogg off on this, but here are some deep thoughts from our country’s future:

Great news, Davey, it isn’t. There are many more restrictions on purchasing firearms than vehicles.

Sure, if you are buying a new car at a dealership and have to finance, it can be a long tedious process. Seriously, don’t pay extra for the undercoat; it’s a scam! In any case, buying a car, especially a used one, is as simple as: here’s the money, gimme the keys. Convicted felons can do it, kids can do it. Literally no one is restricted from purchasing an automobile. You don’t even have to pass a background check or have a valid ID.

Buying a gun, legally, from a federally licensed dealer however has some more complicated steps. First, kids and felons can’t do it. For those who meet the eligibility requirements, there is a background check and in many places a waiting period. There is also a fee and in many places multiple fees where no such car purchasing fee exists. There’s a car registration fee, but you can drive a car around on your own property and never get tags or even a driver’s license. If you are only going to use your gun on your own property, you still have to go through all of the bullshit to buy it.

Also, while we’re on the subject, owning a car is not a Constitutionally protected right like gun ownership. I think our Founding Fathers were going to put in an amendment about the right to keep and drive automobiles but at the last second Thomas Jefferson pointed out that automobiles don’t exist, so it was scraped.

As for the other thing Hogg said, it’s not a right if it’s not absolute. Rights that are highly regulated and restricted are called privileges.

Here’s the thing, Hogg thinks voter ID and even registering to vote violates the right to vote…

…but that ID and eligibility requirements and even gun bans don’t violate the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Here’s a weird fact: The Constitution doesn’t specifically state that voting is a right but rather if states allow voting, it has to be open to everyone. The Constitution doesn’t say that states have to let people vote for president. If the states wanted to, they could let a tic-tac-toe playing chicken pick the president.

The good news for Hogg is that being a dumbf*ck is a protected right covered by the 1st Amendment right to free speech and expression, so he can continue to enjoy being completely full of shit.
