In 2012 the people of California voted to uphold the state’s death penalty and then did it again in 2016. California Governor Gavin Newsom responded to the will of the people by putting a halt to all state executions and now he’s completely dismantling death row. Newsom is taking the liberal soft-on-crime bullshit to impotent eunuch levels.
The AP reports:
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who three years ago placed a moratorium on executions, now is moving to dismantle the United States’ largest death row by moving all condemned inmates to other prisons within two years.
Newsom said Monday it’s an outgrowth of his opposition to what he believes is a deeply flawed system, one that “gets my blood boiling.”
“The prospect of your ending up on death row has more to do with your wealth and race than it does your guilt or innocence. We talk about justice, we preach justice, but as a nation, we don’t practice it on death row,” said Newsom.
So now it’s racist to execute black murders who have been convicted of killing people and sentenced to death? What an asshole.
He’s also a moron. Literally no one on death row is innocent. They’ve all been convicted and ,thanks to California’s insane appeals process, been confirmed several times over as cold-blooded killers. He’s basically trying to say that the non-white people on California’s death row are innocent because they aren’t white. Again, what an asshole.
Also, way to pick a side. It makes his blood boil that convicted killers would be put to death for their crimes but somehow isn’t nearly as outraged by the atrocities that they have committed.
It actually gets dumber. Check this out:
The goal is to turn the section at San Quentin State Prison into a “positive, healing environment.”
Newsom’s proposed budget for the fiscal year starting July 1 seeks $1.5 million to find new uses for the vacant condemned housing.
It notes that death row and its supporting activities are in the same area as facilities used for rehabilitation programs for medium-security San Quentin inmates. The money would be used to hire a consultant to “develop options for (the) space focused on creating a positive, healing environment to provide increased rehabilitative, educational and health care opportunities.”
So they’re going to turn death row into a yoga studio? Ain’t it awesome how liberal bullshit always comes with a huge price tag? Additionally, they built a new death chamber a few years back for nearly a million bucks that has never been used.
Despite the fact that California still has a death penalty and that the people of the state have overwhelmingly supported it twice in the past 10 years, Newsom is essentially eliminating it:
…California is merging its condemned inmates into the general prison population with no expectation that any will face execution anytime in the near future.
California has 673 condemned male inmates and 21 condemned female inmates who just got a “Get Out of Death Free” card. These are bad people who have done really bad things and now the victim’s families will never get justice.
Liberals have embraced this crazy position that justice means not holding criminals accountable for their actions. It’s not going to be shocking if Newsom’s next move is to releases these former death row inmates into the public because of racism and stuff.
